Deutschland Ticket?

I'll be in Berlin for 4 months this summer and want the Deutschland ticket, but which app or provider is the best? I'm most interested in a reliable app with easy sign up and easy cancelation. tbh just go with the official BVG app if you're staying in Berlin. it handles the deutschland ticket plus all your local U-Bahn and tram rides in one place, so you don't need a second app. sign up takes like 5 minutes and cancelation is a few taps in the settings, no phone call needed.

the only catch is they bill monthly and you gotta cancel by the 10th of the month before, so set a reminder. if you're also planning trips outside Berlin, mopla or the DB app work fine too, but BVG is less clunky for daily use. i've used both and BVG's push notifications about delays are way more reliable.

BVG is the obvious choice if you want everything in one place, but I would actually steer you toward the DB Navigator if you plan to use the ticket for anything beyond Berlin. The Deutschland ticket gets you on regional trains across Germany, and the DB app handles seat reservations and long-distance bookings better when you do want to splurge on an ICE. Signup takes a few minutes, cancelation is straightforward, and you won't need to juggle two apps when you're hopping over to Potsdam or Dresden for a day trip. Just remember the cut-off is the 10th of the month before you want it to end, so if you're leaving mid-August, cancel by July 10th or you'll be paying for September too.

If you're here for exactly four months, mopla is worth a look because it lets you pause the subscription instead of fully canceling, which is handy if you leave for a week or two mid-summer. The sign-up is smooth and it's run by a Berlin-based startup, so customer support actually responds in English if something goes wrong. That said, BVG's own app is the most straightforward for daily use here, and the cancellation deadline is the 10th of the prior month, so mark it on your calendar. For the occasional weekend trip to Leipzig or Hamburg, the ticket works on regional trains no matter which provider you pick, so don't overthink the backend.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
