How to find musicians in Berlin?

I'm in a post-punk indie rock band and we've really been struggling to find a bassist. I feel like Berlin is full of them, but for some reason I feel like we've tried everything and the ones we've met with just haven't been great fits. We have posted in multiple Facebook groups for musicians, hung up posters and used websites like mukken, eBay and Craigslist with no luck. Is there some kind of secret to find good musicians here? if anyone has figured it out please let me know, cause I wanna gig!

try the classifieds in the taz or the exberliner, old school but still works. also, the berlin musicians fb group is mostly spam, but there's a smaller one called "berlin musicians & bands wanted" that's way more chill. and honestly, asking other bassists directly at shows, like "hey, know anyone who'd fill in?" works better than any ad, cause everyone's got a friend who's between projects. one thing that helped us was offering to cover the first month of rehearsal space, that weeds out the time wasters fast

fair warning, most of the "good" bassists here are already locked into like three projects, so it's not about finding a free player, it's about finding someone who wants a low-stakes side thing. we had way more luck doing a one-off cover show at a random karaoke bar in neukölln and just asking the dude who filled in, no pressure, no commitment, and he ended up staying for a year. also, check the bulletin board at the b-flat in mitte, that's where the older jazz guys post, and they're often bored of their own scene and down to play something rougher.

Have you tried hitting up the open jam nights at places like Urban Spree or the Køpi squat? A lot of the post-punk and DIY crowd hangs there, and it's way easier to vibe with someone after they've played a sloppy set than through a cold Facebook message. Also, check the bulletin boards at smaller venues like Badehaus or Schokoladen, not the big halls, the artists actually read those. Honestly, the best bassist we found came from asking the sound guy at a show we played, they always know who's reliable and who's a flake.

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
