What area in Berlin is the most Berlin?

I'm visiting Berlin this weekend. I've been there twice before. What place/area is the most Berlin? Where should I go to see the soul of Berlin? Or does anyone have any tips in general? i'd say go wander around x-berg between kottbusser tor and schlesisches tor. the chaos of adalbertstraße with the market smells and the u-bahn rattling overhead and people arguing in three languages outside a späti at 11am. then duck into markthalle neun on eisenbahnstraße for lunch, it's gentrified sure but the energy is pure berlin. that stretch has the grime and the creativity and the total lack of polish that makes this city what it is

honestly, go to tempelhofer feld. it's this old airport turned into a massive park. nothing else like it. people skate, bbq, fly kites, just sprawl out on the runways. it's weird and open and free, that's the soul of berlin to me

neukölln gets my vote. walk around the weserstraße area on a saturday afternoon, it's messy and loud and full of turkish bakeries next to vegan cafes and old guys smoking outside spätis. that's the real berlin to me, not the tourist stuff around alexanderplatz

if you want something calmer, grab a beer and sit on the banks of the landwehrkanal near maybachufer. people just hang out there all day, talking or reading or doing nothing. feels very berlin without trying hard

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
