How much do you pay monthly? Did the market explode and I should search for alternatives or is this the norm?

honestly 40 for 100mb sounds like a lot. im with easybell which uses telekom lines and i pay 30 for 50mb but its been rock solid for years. if you can get vodafone cable check their deals, they sometimes do 100mb for under 30 for new customers. also worth checking if you can switch to o2 or 1&1, they run promos pretty often.

i pay 35 for 250mb with vodafone, had to switch from telekom cause they were way more expensive for slower speed. def look into other providers if you can

You're getting overcharged. I pay 29.99 for 250 mbit with Vodafone cable, though that was a new customer deal that jumped to 45 after two years. Called them to cancel and they dropped it back down. If you're stuck on DSL because of your building, check if Telekom or 1&1 actually offers faster speeds at your address, sometimes the availability checkers show different results. Also worth asking your neighbors what they pay, in Berlin buildings the infrastructure can vary wildly from one street to the next.
