Is there a point in reporting violence?

I got away without him hurting me physically, but he broke my shit.

This is the 5th time something like this has happened to me in Berlin. Where would I report this and is it even worth the effort with how many crazies there are?

yeah file a report at the nearest Polizeiabschnitt, the one for Wedding/Mitte handles a lot of U-Bahn stuff. even if nothing comes of it legally, it helps build a paper trail - those stats actually influence where they put more security. also worth emailing BVG's Sicherheitsteam with the exact time and platform, they sometimes ban repeat offenders from stations. sorry this keeps happening to u, the U6 can be rough especially around Tempelhof

Fifth time is rough, I'm sorry. For the U-Bahn specifically, you can also file a report directly at the BVG customer center in the station, like the one at Rathaus Steglitz or Hauptbahnhof. They take the report, give you a case number, and it goes straight to their internal security, which is different from the police file. It's worth doing both a police report online and a BVG report because the transit authority can issue a Hausverbot (a ban from all BVG property) for that person if they catch him on camera, which is a lot more concrete than a general police investigation. The police report is for the legal record, the BVG report is for getting that guy banned from the trains.

the U6 is genuinely cursed, i'm sorry. you can file a report online at the Berlin Polizei portal, no need to go in person unless you want to. it's worth it for the paper trail even if they never catch the guy, and if you have a specific time & train direction, BVG's video surveillance team can sometimes pull footage. also check if your Haftpflichtversicherung covers property damage in public, some do. stay safe out there

What is the correct spelling for a street name that appears differently on multiple signs in Charlottenburg?

I noticed that the street name is spelled differently on three separate signs in the Charlottenburg area. Can anyone confirm the correct official spelling and whether this is a known issue? Worth noting that Berlin street names have official umlaut and ß rules that trip people up, so a sign showing "Strasse" versus "Straße" is not actually a spelling error, just an older transcription. Same with "ue" versus "ü" (e.g. "Kantstrasse" vs "Kantstraße"), both are considered valid renderings and you'll see the ß version on the blue Schilder and the ss version on older plaques or in databases that predate Unicode. If the difference you're seeing is between those two forms, there's nothing to fix and both are technically correct.

if the signs u mean are the old enamel ones on the house facades those are often protected as Baudenkmal so nobody's allowed to correct them even if the spelling is outdated. the binding version is whatever is in the Berliner Strassenverzeichnis plus the entry in the Liegenschaftskataster, so if u tell me the street i can point u to the right Bezirksamt Mitte or Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf page. tbh the merged district thing is real but the facade signs are a separate story, theyre basically museum pieces at this point

honestly thats super common in Charlottenburg, the district offices were merged from older Bezirke and nobody ever fixed all the Schilder. if its a real street you can check the official strassenverzeichnis on berlin.de, that list is what the Burgeramt actually goes by. which street is it? some of the Kaiserdamm / Kantstrasse signs are notorious for this.
