I'm thinking walk-in exam. I had C1 before but it expired (why is that even a thing?!!) and now I need a new one. Unfortunately it's not offered at my university.

inb4: Of course I'm searching the internet and I'm aware of the official places, but I thought you have some hot tips :)

bitte not a walk-in thing in berlin sadly, exams need the physical materials shipped in. but if you're flexible on the type, the telc C1 at volkshochschule in friedrichshain sometimes has short-notice spots if you call them tuesday mornings when they process cancellations. around 180 euro and results in 2-3 weeks if you pay for express

honestly just call the test centers directly instead of relying on what's online. berlitz on kurfürstendamm sometimes has last-minute spots if someone cancels, but you gotta be persistent. also check the vhs in mitte, they do cambridge exams and sometimes have openings a week out if you ask nicely. the whole expiry thing is dumb but cambridge certificates dont expire so thats your safest bet long term

The issue with walk-in exams for C1 is that most test centers need you to register in advance because they have to order the physical test materials. But I'd check Berlitz at Kurfürstendamm or the British Council at Friedrichstraße - sometimes they have cancellations and can squeeze you in within a week if you call and explain your situation. The Cambridge English certificate is probably your best bet since it doesn't expire the way some university-specific ones do, and most schools abroad accept it.
