the itinerary's solid but i'd tweak day 1 a bit. instead of heading straight to dongxing temple for lunch, walk 5 mins north from the dinosaur museum to the little food alley on da'an lu, there's a stall called chen ji that does the best zhajiangmian in town for 12 kuai, way less touristy than the snack street. for the night market, the tofu pudding is fine but the real move is the spicy cold rabbit slices from the lady with the red cart near the entrance, she's been there for a decade and her chili oil is legendary. also, on day 2, the bus to gongjing is fine but if u can catch the 8:30 one it's way less crowded, the 9am bus is when all the students pile on
honestly this is a solid plan, the dinosaur museum is worth the early start. one thing i'd add is the salt museum has a small cafe with pretty good douhua (tofu pudding) for like 8 kuai, way cheaper than the night market stuff and just as authentic. also, if u're into food, skip the rabbit head at dongxing temple and grab it from a street cart near the night market instead, the one on the corner of jiefang lu does a killer version with more chili oil. for day 2, the bus to gongjing is fine but expect it to be packed around 8am with locals heading to work.
i'd actually swap day 2 and day 3, the lantern museum is way better at night when the park lights up and it's less crowded. the gongjing ancient salt well is cool but it's tiny, you can see everything in like 20 mins. also, if you're into photography, the dinosaur museum has this massive glass wall on the second floor that catches the sunset light perfectly around 4pm, makes for some really nice shots of the big fossils

The dinosaur museum tip about the prep lab is spot on, but I'd also say don't skip the outdoor garden area behind the main hall. There are full-sized dinosaur statues scattered around a little park and it's usually empty because everyone stays inside. Great for photos without the crowds.
For the salt museum, the guided tour is only in Chinese but the audio guide rental is worth the extra 10 yuan if you don't speak it. The English version is clunky but it explains the drilling techniques way better than the plaques do.
This is a solid guide. I've been to the Dinosaur Museum four times now and it really is worth the 40 yuan, but I would add that the fossil preparation lab on the second floor is easy to miss. You can watch paleontologists actually working on bones through glass windows, and it is fascinating, especially if you have kids with you.
For the food crawl, Dongxing Temple is good but locals tend to prefer the smaller lanes off Guanghua Road for cold rabbit. There is a place called Chen Ji Tuo Tuo that does a version with extra Sichuan peppercorns that will make your lips go completely numb in the best way. Most dishes there are around 25 yuan and they serve until midnight.
If you are going to the lantern world, bring cash for the snack vendors inside. A few of the best ones don't take WeChat pay and you'll want the candied hawthorn sticks they sell near the dragon boat display. They cost about 10 yuan and cut through the spiciness from dinner.
