The dinosaur museum tip about the prep lab is spot on, but I'd also say don't skip the outdoor garden area behind the main hall. There are full-sized dinosaur statues scattered around a little park and it's usually empty because everyone stays inside. Great for photos without the crowds.

For the salt museum, the guided tour is only in Chinese but the audio guide rental is worth the extra 10 yuan if you don't speak it. The English version is clunky but it explains the drilling techniques way better than the plaques do.

This is a solid guide. I've been to the Dinosaur Museum four times now and it really is worth the 40 yuan, but I would add that the fossil preparation lab on the second floor is easy to miss. You can watch paleontologists actually working on bones through glass windows, and it is fascinating, especially if you have kids with you.

For the food crawl, Dongxing Temple is good but locals tend to prefer the smaller lanes off Guanghua Road for cold rabbit. There is a place called Chen Ji Tuo Tuo that does a version with extra Sichuan peppercorns that will make your lips go completely numb in the best way. Most dishes there are around 25 yuan and they serve until midnight.

If you are going to the lantern world, bring cash for the snack vendors inside. A few of the best ones don't take WeChat pay and you'll want the candied hawthorn sticks they sell near the dragon boat display. They cost about 10 yuan and cut through the spiciness from dinner.

solid list, you covered the main spots well. one thing i'd add for the dinosaur museum - the queue at the ticket counter can get long by 9:30, but theres a side entrance for digital tickets that most tourists miss, just show the QR code on your phone and walk right past the line

for the salt museum, if you go on a weekday afternoon its basically empty, i had the whole second floor to myself once. theres a small courtyard out back with a preserved salt well that the audio guide doesnt mention, worth poking around for

biggest tip nobody tells you - the bus from the train station to dongxing temple is route 35 and costs 2 yuan, drops you right at the food street entrance. way faster than waiting for a taxi during rush hour

Booked a room in Zigong last October and the thing I'd flag is the breakfast situation, which the guide touches on but undersells. A lot of mid-range places advertise "breakfast included" and it turns out to be a coupon for a noodle shop next door, which is actually great, since Zigong's morning beef noodle bowls are the real draw anyway. Ask at check-in where the coupon works, because the front desk often forgets to mention it and you lose the value.

On location, everyone defaults to Wuxing Street but I'd look at the streets just south of the Salt Museum, around Shizi Kou, where you get the same walkability with less foot traffic at night. Paid around 180 yuan for a clean mid-range room there, and the old salt merchant lanes are right outside your door.

This is a solid breakdown, though I'd push back slightly on the Fuxi River area being the best value for a first visit. I've stayed at the Howard Johnson Salt Capital twice and it's fine, but the rooms on the Wuxing Street side get noisy at night, so ask for a higher floor facing away from the market if you book there. One thing the guide doesn't mention is that Zigong has a decent cluster of newer hotels around the Huidong New Area near the high-speed rail station (Zigong Station, not the old one), which is handy if you're coming in on the Chengdu line and don't want to deal with the 20-minute taxi into Ziliujing. Rates there run $30 to $50 and it's quieter than the center. Also worth knowing: many smaller hotels in Zigong still don't take foreign credit cards, so bring some cash or use Alipay linked to an international card.

Nice work pulling all the districts into one place. The point I'd add is about timing within the day, not just the season: Zigong's lantern festival at Colorful Lantern World (Caideng Gongyuan) runs roughly from late January into March, and even outside Spring Festival the weekends during that window push Ziliujing rates up noticeably, so a Tuesday arrival can save you real money. Also, if you're coming for the salt history specifically, the Shenhai Well in Da'an is worth a half day and pairs well with the dinosaur museum since they're on the same side of town, so a Da'an base for one night actually makes sense rather than treating it as a day trip from the center.
