Also for the spicy chicken, if you're going with a group the whole chicken portion at Laozhangjia is 88 yuan and easily feeds three people, better value than ordering two smaller plates.
The guide's recommendations are solid, but one thing I'd add is that the spicy chicken at Laozhangjia is best ordered with a side of their vinegar-splash cucumber salad to cool your mouth between bites. Also, if you're on Guangming Road for the lamb skewers, skip the first few stalls and go to the one with the red awning about halfway down the block. The family that runs it has been there for over a decade and they char the fat perfectly. For a non-spicy evening, the hot pot place called Shunfeng at 42 Wenhua Road does a mushroom broth that's surprisingly good, and it's only 48 yuan per person for the all-you-can-eat option.
ngl the guide is solid but they missed one of my fave spots - there's a little place called lao li's braised chicken (老李炖鸡) on xinghua road that does this insane claypot chicken with chestnuts, it's like 55 yuan and the broth is so rich you'll wanna drink it. it's not as spicy as the lazi ji but the flavor is deeper, more of a slow-cooked thing. also for the tea house mention, qingfeng is fine but i prefer yunshui tea room (云水茶室) on minzhu street, same price range but their courtyard has a koi pond and they let you sit for hours without rushing you. the osmanthus cake there is homemade too, not the mass-produced stuff

honestly this is a solid plan, I've done basically this route a few times. one thing I'd add is that Taierzhuang Ancient Town is way better at sunset, the lighting on the canals is gorgeous and it gets less crowded around 4pm. also for the spicy chicken, Laojie Yipin is good but if u want a more local vibe try the hole-in-the-wall spot on Qingtan Road near the old market, it's called Wang Ji, same price but the chicken is crispier imo.
for Weishan Lake, skip the big tour boats and grab a small fisherman's boat for like 40 RMB, they'll take u through the lotus patches and u get way closer to the birds. just haggle a bit at the dock.
oh and the night market on Wenhua Road, the grilled squid from the third stall from the east entrance is the best, they use a sweeter sauce than the others. bring small bills cuz some stalls get annoyed with big ones.
