Yueqing hidden gems for a 4-month-out trip?
4 months gives you time to get to know the old tea terraces on the hills above Danxi town. Most people drive right past them on the way to Yandang, but if you park near the concrete bridge just past the gas station and walk up the dirt path, you'll find rows of tea bushes that haven't been touched in years. The view from the top looks out over the whole valley and you can see the ocean on a clear day. There's an elderly couple who still dry their own leaves in a shed up there and will sell you a bag for 20 kuai if they're around.
if you're here for 4 months you gotta hit the old kiln site near dongta village, it's not marked on any map really but locals know it. there's these broken pottery shards scattered all over the hillside from the song dynasty, just lying there in the dirt, feels like an archaeological dig but nobody cares. also the morning tofu pudding at the small shack on jiefang road, the one with the red sign that's been faded for years, they make it with a ginger syrup that'll wake u up better than coffee. get there before 8am or they're gone
honestly skip the main Yandang mountain entrance and go to the backside near Lingfeng village. there's a trail locals use to climb up for free, no tickets needed, and you get the same crazy peaks without the crowds. also check out the old street in Hongqiao town, it's got this faded 80s vibe with tiny food stalls selling 麦饼 (maibing) for like 3 kuai each, way better than the tourist version downtown.
another thing nobody mentions is the night market near Yueqing bus station, but not the one on the main road. go two blocks east into the alley behind the KFC, there's a lady who makes 炒粉干 (chao fen gan) from a cart, best i've had in the city. she's there from 7pm till she runs out, usually around 10. bring cash cause she doesn't do WeChat pay.

Most attractions accept mobile payments like Alipay or WeChat Pay, but carry some cash for small vendors. The best time to visit is spring (March-May) or autumn (September-November) for mild weather. Avoid national holidays for fewer crowds.
Nice itinerary, covers the main spots well. One thing I'd add is that if you're going to Yandang Mountain, the Lingfeng Peak morning hike is good but the real gem is the hidden waterfall on the back side of the trail. Most people turn around at the main viewpoint, but if you keep going another 15 minutes past the big rock formation, you'll hit a small unmarked path to the left. It leads to a quiet pool where locals sometimes swim in summer. Just be careful on the rocks, they're slick.
Also, for the Night Market on Ningkang East Road, the fried oysters are fine but the grilled squid skewers from the second stall on the right are better. They char them over charcoal and brush on a spicy garlic sauce, costs about 15 RMB for three. The stall owner is a grumpy old guy who never smiles but his squid is the best in town.
Solid itinerary. I'd add that if you're up for a more local breakfast on Day 2, skip the hotel spread and grab a bowl of mian jie from the little shop on the corner of Renmin Road and Qingyuan Road. It's a Yueqing specialty, thick rice noodles in a pork broth, and costs about 8 RMB. The line starts around 7 a.m., so get there early.
The Yueqing Bay Wetland is nice, but I found the bird-watching towers are best around 10 a.m. when the tide comes in and the herons start feeding. You'll see more activity then compared to first thing in the morning. Also, the boardwalk gets slippery after rain, so watch your step.
honestly the day 1 mountain morning timing is spot on but if you're not a morning person, the sunset hike up Lingfeng is actually way more chill. the crowds thin out around 4pm and the light hits the peaks in a warm orange glow that photos don't capture. just bring a flashlight for the descent, it gets dark fast in the valleys
for the museum, the free entry is nice but they have a small audio guide rental for 10 rmb that's worth it. the lady at the desk speaks some english and will point out the best exhibits if you ask. i spent an hour in there and learned more about yueqing's salt farming history than i expected
one thing the guide doesn't mention is the little bakery on Qingyuan Road near the Wanda Plaza, it's called Lao Fang and they do these sesame balls filled with red bean paste for 3 rmb each. perfect snack for the wetland park walk, just grab a few before you hop on bus 105
