you could also head to guifeng if you're up for a longer drive, about an hour east of yingtan. it's this weird rock formation park with these giant pillars and crevices you can walk through, entry is like 60 yuan and the cable car saves your legs if you don't feel like climbing. the scenery's totally different from longhu shan, more jagged and dramatic, and there's a glass bridge if that's your thing
for a quieter afternoon, the old town area near yingtan's train station has a few teahouses that've been around forever, like the one on shengli road with the creaky wooden tables. grab a pot of wuyi rock tea for 15 yuan and just watch the locals play xiangqi, nobody rushes you out
honestly Longhu Shan is the big one and you should prob do that first, it's about 30 min by bus from town and the boat ride through the cliffs is pretty chill. if you want something different, check out Shangqing Ancient Town just south of the mountain, it's way less touristy and the old streets feel more real, maybe 20 yuan entry. there's also a village called Tangzhuang that's got some Ming dynasty vibes but it's a bit of a drive, like 40 min, and the road gets narrow so rent a car not a scooter.
if you've got a full day, skip the main temple area at longhu and hike up to the viewing pavilion on the east ridge instead, the river curve below is way better from up there, takes maybe 2 hours round trip. for food after, there's a spot near the bus station called lao xiang cai guan that does a mean fish head stew with pickled chilies, about 40 kuai a serving and they don't water it down for tourists. tangzhuang is cool but honestly it's mostly rebuilt, the real deal is xiakeng village further east, about an hour drive, crumbling walls and no souvenir shops, just bring cash since the old lady selling tea eggs won't take wechat

🏯 Morning: Longhu Mountain
Arrive at Longhu Mountain by 8:30 AM to beat the crowds. The entrance fee is 120 CNY, and the cable car costs an additional 60 CNY. Spend two hours exploring the Danxia landforms and the ancient cliff tombs.
🚣 Late Morning: Fairy Lake
Take a 10-minute taxi (15 CNY) from Longhu Mountain to Fairy Lake. A boat ride costs 80 CNY and lasts about 40 minutes. Enjoy the clear waters and surrounding cliffs before lunch.
🍜 Lunch: Local Noodles
Head to Yingtan Noodle House at 123 Jiefang Road for a bowl of authentic Yingtan rice noodles. A bowl costs around 15 CNY, and the shop is busy from 11:30 AM to 1:00 PM.

Visit the Yingtan Museum at 456 Yingtan Avenue, open 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM (closed Mondays). Admission is free, and you can learn about the region's Taoist history and local culture. Allow 1.5 hours.

Day 2 focuses on the outskirts, so take bus 2 from the city center to Guifeng Scenic Area (40 minutes, 2 CNY). Alternatively, a taxi costs about 50 CNY and takes 25 minutes.

Arrive at Guifeng Scenic Area by 8:00 AM. The entrance fee is 100 CNY, and the main hiking loop takes 3-4 hours. Bring water and wear sturdy shoes, as some stairs are steep.
ngl this is a solid plan for yingtan. one thing i'd add is that the cable car at longhu mountain is worth it just for the view of the cliff tombs from above, but if you're fit you can hike up for free and skip the 60 yuan. just takes about 45 mins and the trail starts near the main gate.
also the grilled tofu at the night market is good but honestly the best stuff is the stinky tofu from the old lady at the second stall from the bridge. she's been there for years and it's only 3 yuan a skewer, way better than the ones near the main stalls.
for guifeng, bring a hat even in spring because there's almost no shade on the upper loop. i did it in april and got roasted. the view from the top is worth the sweat tho, you can see the whole danxia range on a clear day.
yeah this is pretty much the perfect yingtan plan tbh. one thing i'd change is swapping the museum for the taoist temple complex at the base of longhu mountain instead, it's free and way more atmospheric, plus you can see actual daoist priests doing their morning prayers around 9am if you time it right. also for dinner skip the riverside stalls and walk 5 mins north to the food street on minzhu road, the xiaolongbao place there is incredible and only 8 yuan for 8 pieces
solid plan overall. one thing i'd mention is the fairy lake boat ride tends to get packed by 10am so going earlier like right when you get off the cable car is better, we waited almost 45 mins last summer. also if you have time after the museum the old town alley behind it has a tiny tea shop run by a guy who makes his own bamboo cups, worth grabbing one as a souvenir for like 20 yuan
