man i gotta push back on the mango sticky rice at sweet dream cafe, it's 18 yuan but honestly kind of mid, the coconut cream is too thin. if you want a real dessert spot walk two blocks east to the little bakery on 8 lake road, they do this egg tart with a sesame crust for 6 yuan each and they come out of the oven at 4pm sharp. also the guide is right about the 8pm timing for auntie li's but if you show up at 9:30 she'll toss in an extra skewer for free sometimes, just gotta smile and say a quick xie xie.

I would add that the hand-pulled noodles at Lao Wang's are best if you go during lunch rush, around 11:30 to 12, because that's when they make a fresh batch and the texture is noticeably chewier than the reheated portions later in the afternoon. The zhajiangmian the other commenter mentioned is solid but I actually prefer the dan dan noodles there, it's 24 yuan and the sesame paste is much thicker than what you get at most places in Yangshe. One thing nobody has brought up yet is the cold noodle version they do in summer, they switch to a chilled sesame sauce and add shredded cucumber and bean sprouts, it's only available from June through August and worth timing a visit for.

Yangshe on a budget?
yeah 150 a day is realistic but you can trim it down if you're smart about it. the wet market near yangshe old street has fresh fruit and snacks for way less than convenience stores, like a big bag of oranges for 5 yuan. for transport, renting a bike from the public share scheme is 1 yuan per 30 mins and covers most of the old town area fine. skip the fancy tea houses and grab a cup from a street vendor for 3 yuan instead
If you're eating where locals go rather than the hotel restaurants, you can get a solid bowl of noodles or a rice dish for around 20-30 yuan at places like the food court under the Wanda Plaza. Public buses are 1 yuan per ride and taxis start at 8 yuan, so getting around won't eat into your budget much. For sightseeing, the Zhangjiagang Museum is free and the Shazhou Park costs maybe 10 yuan entry. I'd say 150-200 yuan per day is comfortable for one person covering all three.
budget wise i'd say 120-150 a day is safe but it depends on what you're into. the riverside walking path along the yangtze is free and gives you a nice view of the port, plus there's a small market near the shazhou middle school that sells fresh fruit and snacks for cheap. if you want a sit-down meal without breaking the bank, try the dumpling shop on renmin road, they do a big plate of potstickers for 18 yuan and it's enough for lunch
