honestly the guide's got most of the basics covered but i'd say skip the official museum ticket and head straight to the Qin Shi Huang Mausoleum Site Park instead. it's like 10 minutes east of the city, 45 RMB entry, and you can walk the actual burial mound path where the terracotta army was originally placed. most people just go to xi'an's pits but this is where the real history sits, theres a small exhibition hall with some original bronze chariots that are insane up close
also for food, the persimmon cakes are fine but the real move is the cold skin noodles at a place called Zhang Ji on Jiefang Road. they do this sesame sauce version that's like 8 RMB and it's the best thing on a hot day. the owner's an old guy who's been making them since the 80s, you'll see the giant wok of boiling noodles out front
really helpful guide, esp for first-timers to xianyang. one thing i'd add is the Han Yang Ling Museum, it's like 20 mins south by cab and way less crowded than the big attractions. the underground exhibition hall lets you walk right over the excavation pits, you can see these tiny ceramic figures and actual animal skeletons still in situ from the Han dynasty. entry was 80 RMB last i went and they have these glass floors that make you feel like you're floating over the dig
also for the night market, if you're there on a weekend they sometimes have shadow puppet shows near the north entrance around 8pm. it's free just a guy with a screen and some puppets but it's pretty magical if you catch it
solid list, one thing i'd add is the Yangjiawan Terracotta Army site out in the eastern suburbs. way smaller than the one in xi'an but you can get right up close to the pits, no crowds at all. cost me like 35 RMB and i had the whole place to myself for an hour
also for getting around, the shared e-bikes are everywhere now and way easier than trying to figure out bus routes. just scan and go, prob 2-3 RMB for a short ride

ngl the guide is solid but they missed a hidden gem - there's this old guy who sets up a roujiamo cart on the corner of Dongfeng and Renmin around 7pm, his bread is hand-pulled and griddled right there, not the pre-made stuff most places use. the pork is braised with like 15 spices and he chops it with this massive cleaver, 8 RMB for one and it's easily the best i've had in the city. also if you're at the muslim quarter, skip the stalls right by the bell tower and walk two blocks west to the side alley, there's a family-run place that does lamb offal soup for 12 RMB that'll change your life
I've been going to Laosun Jia on Weiyang Road for years and can confirm it's the real deal for yangrou paomo. One thing the guide doesn't mention is that you can ask for the bread to be torn into smaller or larger pieces depending on your preference, and the staff will take it back to cook with the broth accordingly. If you want something different for breakfast, the sesame seed cakes with spicy lamb filling from the cart outside the north gate of Xianyang Normal University are only 5 RMB and they sell out by 9 AM.
The guide's right about the Muslim Quarter near the Bell Tower being good for skewers but honestly the best lamb I've had in Xianyang is from a tiny place called Ma's BBQ on a side street off Zhongshan. It's just a hole in the wall with plastic stools but the cumin lamb skewers are 2 RMB each and they char them over actual coal, not gas. Get there around 6 PM before the dinner rush or you'll be waiting 40 minutes for a seat.
Also worth adding that the persimmon cakes mentioned are great but the fresh ones from the lady with the cart at the south end of Renmin Road night market are way better than the pre-packed ones. She fries them to order and they're still warm when you bite in, 3 RMB each but worth the extra yuan.
