The guide misses one thing about the 9.18 Museum: it's free but you need to show your passport to get in, and the line can stretch around the block on weekends. If you go on a weekday around 2pm, you'll walk right in and have the exhibits mostly to yourself.

solid guide overall, one thing i'd add is the shenyang metro app (shenyang metro or 盛京通) lets you scan qr codes to ride without needing a physical card or cash at all, setup takes like two minutes with alipay linked

for a quieter evening than zhongjie, the area around the shenyang conservatory of music on sanhao street has some decent little bars and cafes, mostly students hanging out so drinks are cheap, a bottle of tsingtao is usually like 8 yuan there

the guide mentions wu'ai market for bargaining but that place is mostly tourist stuff now, if you want real market chaos head to the morning market near xi'an street subway station exit a, it runs from like 5am to 10am and you'll find everything from live fish to handmade scissors, just bring small bills
