yeah this is a really solid list. one thing i'd mention for sanqing is that the fog can roll in crazy fast in the afternoon, like you'll have clear views one minute and then nothing but white the next. try to hit the jade capital peak before 11am if you want photos that aren't just grey haze

also the bus to guifeng drops you at the main gate but there's a local minibus that goes from the shangrao south station for like 10 rmb, takes a bit longer but runs more often. i've done it a few times and never had to wait more than 20 minutes

Been going to Shangrao for years and the district breakdown is genuinely useful, but the pricing misses one thing: seasonal swings here are brutal in a way the ranges don't capture. The same Xinzhou mid-range room that's 300 RMB in April can hit 700 during National Day week, and Sanqingshan guesthouses near the cableway base triple for the first week of October. If your dates are even slightly flexible, aim for late April or early June, the weather's good and you skip both the holiday crush and the rapeseed crowds.

Also worth knowing that Shangrao Station has a left luggage office on the second floor, which matters if you're doing Sanqingshan as a day trip and don't want to haul bags up the mountain.

Something I'd add on the Xinzhou side: the area right around Wanda Plaza is convenient but genuinely loud at night, there's a big outdoor square where locals run speakers and dance until 9 or 10pm. If you're a light sleeper, ask for a room on a higher floor facing away from the plaza, or look at hotels a block or two off the main road instead.

On getting around, the bus system works but payment is the catch. Most Shangrao city buses take Alipay or WeChat transit codes now, not cash, and drivers usually won't break a 100. Set up the Shangrao transit mini-program in Alipay before you arrive or you'll be stuck. Didi is fine but during rain or after 10pm the wait in Xinzhou can stretch to 20 minutes, so don't count on it for a tight train connection.
