nice write up, covers the main spots well. one thing i'd add is the afternoon snack scene around xueyuan road near the teachers college, there's a couple of carts that show up around 3pm selling "suan tian" pickled radish and mango with chili salt, 5 rmb a bag and it's the perfect palate cleanser between meals. also for the hakka flavor restaurant, their "niang jiu" fermented rice drink is worth trying at 8 rmb a bowl, it's sweet and barely alcoholic, goes great with the braised pork. the guide's right about avoiding tourist spots, the noodles at the station market are 15 rmb but the same bowl at a random shop on fumin road is 8 rmb and tastes better tbh

yo this guide is solid, especially the salt-baked chicken tip. honestly i'd add that laomao's gets crowded around noon so go at 11am if u can, the skin gets extra crispy when it's fresh out the clay oven. also a block down from auntie chen's on jiangnan road there's this tiny stall that does fried niang doufu with a sweet soy glaze, i think it's called "ah ping's" or something, no english sign but it's 12 rmb for six pieces and the crunch is unreal. for tea, yunshan is great but if u want a proper tasting without the tourist markup walk up to the tea market on huancheng north road, ask for xiao li at stall 8, she'll brew you a 2025 spring dancong for free and u can buy 50g for like 20 rmb. one thing the guide missed is the breakfast scene, the congee spot at 7 jiefang road opens at 6am and does this insane pork liver and century egg congee for 10 rmb, best i've had in the city. the pedestrian market near the station is legit but watch out for stall 19 selling fake "hua diao" wine, taste is off and they overcharge

solid guide, covers the bases well. if you're up for a bit of a walk, the morning market on xinmin road near the east gate has a stall that does "bamboo tube rice" with pork and mushrooms for 8 rmb, they steam it fresh in actual bamboo and the aroma is incredible. opens around 7am and it's gone by 9. also for the grilled oysters at the night market, stall 17 is good but stall 23 does a version with chopped chili and fermented black beans that's spicier and more flavorful, 35 rmb for eight. the guide's tea tip is fine but the free tasting at yunshan is a bit rushed, i prefer sitting at the counter at "cha yi" on jiefang road where they'll let you try three different oolongs for 30 rmb and explain the growing regions, much more chill

this is a great breakdown, really thoughtful. one thing i'd flag is the timing for the hakka museum - it's closed on mondays, so if your 3 days land on a monday you'll need to swap day 1 and day 3 around. also for day 2, the taxi to yannanfei is fine but the road up to the plantation is pretty winding, if anyone gets carsick sit up front and maybe grab some ginger candy from a 7-eleven before you go. the tea tasting there is free with entry but they push the expensive bags pretty hard, just smile and say you're just looking, no pressure

nice itinerary, covers the essentials without overloading. one thing i'd mention is that the salted baked chicken at the night market is good but the real standout is the braised pork belly at a little place called lao ke ji on jiangnan road, it's about 25 cny and they've been doing it for decades. also for day 3, if you're heading to songkou old town, try to go on a sunday morning when the local market sets up, you'll find fresh bamboo shoots and handmade rice noodles that the tourist shops don't carry. the bus ride there is fine but the 17 can get packed, i'd grab a didi for like 25 cny to avoid standing the whole way

One thing I'd add is that the Hakka Museum is worth a solid two hours if you read the English placards, they explain the migration patterns better than most sites. For Day 3, if you have the energy, grab a taxi from Songkou Old Town to the nearby Dapu County to see the Tai'an Tulou cluster, it's less touristy than Qiaoxiang and about 20 minutes by car, around 30 CNY. The roundhouses there have families still living inside, you can sometimes buy homemade preserved plums from the residents for 10 CNY a bag.
