if you're into photography, the songhua river promenade is best around 5:30 AM in summer. the mist sits low over the water and the light hits the pagoda on sifangtai just right from that angle. i got a shot there last july that still has my phone wallpaper locked in.
the cultural center shows are hit or miss but the weekend folk dance performances are genuinely good. arrive 20 minutes early and grab a seat in the front row on the left side, the acoustics are better there. tickets were 50 RMB when i went and the show ran about 90 minutes with a short intermission.
one thing the guide doesnt mention is the morning market on hongqi street, a few blocks south of xinglin park. it runs from 5 am to maybe 9 am and its chaos in the best way, stalls selling everything from fresh pine mushrooms to live chickens. i grabbed a bag of dried hawthorn berries for 10 yuan there, still munching on them months later. worth waking up early for if you like that kind of street market energy
also the bus to sifangtai is route 4 from the central square, drops you right at the base of the hill for 1 yuan. saves you the taxi fare and you get to see the outskirts of town which is mostly farmland and old brick houses. the ride is about 25 minutes if traffic is light
I think the guide is right about Laojie Shifu being good but their guo bao rou is a bit too sweet for my taste. If you want a more authentic version try the place called Dongbei Ren Jia on Guangfu Road, it's in a basement and the decor is nothing special but the pork is crispy and the sauce has that perfect vinegar tang. A meal for two there ran me about 70 RMB last time.

Solid plan, I've taken visitors through most of this route. One thing that's easy to miss is the morning fish market on the riverbank near the port around 6am to 8am, the fishermen bring in their catch right off the boats and you can buy smoked fish directly from them for a fraction of restaurant prices. It is not really a tourist thing, more of a local routine, but it gives you a real sense of how the river defines the city.
For the Hezhe Village, the taxi drivers from the city center usually know the exact drop-off point, but some will try to charge you 50 RMB instead of 40. Just insist on the meter or agree on 40 before you get in. The village itself has a small workshop where they make traditional birch bark crafts, that is worth a look even if you are not buying anything.
honestly this is a solid itinerary, i've done almost the exact same route before. one thing i'd add is the songhua river embankment at sunset is way better than during the day, the light hits the water and the buildings just right. also, if you're at the dongfeng night market, skip the lamb skewers and go for the fried tofu skin rolls instead, there's a stall near the north entrance that's been there for years and it's unreal
for day 3, the river cruise is nice but the boats can be packed on weekends, try the 9am departure if u want a quieter ride. and imo the harbin restaurant is decent but the russian influence is pretty subtle, if u want something more authentic check out the small bakery on heping street near the dumpling place, they do these smoked fish pastries that are killer
one more thing, the cash tip is real, i got caught out at the hezhe village cause their card machine was down. grab some cash from the atm at wanda plaza before u head out
the museum's worth it but heads up, the exhibits are mostly in chinese so bring a translation app if u need it. for day 2, sifangtai is gorgeous but the hiking trails are a bit unmarked, i got turned around once so maybe download a map offline before u go. the hezhe village is small but charming, the fishing demonstrations are the highlight imo. also, laobian dumplings is solid but the line gets long around 6pm, try going a bit earlier or later
