the guide's right about lao chang's, that braised pork belly is legit. but if you want something a bit cheaper and just as good, try the family-run place across the street at 131 heping, no english name but the sign has a yellow rooster on it. their stir-fried green beans are even better than lao chang's and a plate of dumplings is like 20 rmb for 15
also the bing tang hulu vendor on zhongshan street is usually there from 2pm onwards, not all day. i've shown up at noon before and found nothing but an empty cart. the lady who runs it uses really fresh hawthorn berries and the sugar coating is thinner than most places, which i prefer
really solid guide, especially the jianbing tip on guangfu street. one thing i'd add is that the woman who runs that stall also does a version with an extra egg and a crispy wonton skin inside for like 10 rmb, worth the upgrade. also if you're there in winter she adds a splash of ginger syrup to the batter which cuts the cold way better than you'd expect
for the beer house on heping, they do a deal on tuesdays where a pitcher of harbin is 20 rmb instead of 25. not a huge difference but if you're planning to hang out for a couple hours it adds up. and the sour plum soup at the street stalls is usually homemade by whoever's selling it, so the taste varies a lot. the best one i've found is from a cart near the wenhua road intersection, the guy adds dried tangerine peel to his recipe, makes it less syrupy sweet
ngl the guide's pretty solid but they missed the best spot for suan cai fen tiao imo. there's this tiny place called xiao li's kitchen on a side street off wenhua road near the public library, no sign in english, just a red awning. their version uses homemade vermicelli and the broth is way richer than what you get at most places, costs like 18 rmb for a huge bowl
also if you're up early the breakfast stalls on guangfu street have you tiao (fried dough sticks) that are still warm from the oil, like 2 rmb each. way better than the sad cold ones you find later in the day

Solid plan, I've taken visitors through most of this route. One thing that's easy to miss is the morning fish market on the riverbank near the port around 6am to 8am, the fishermen bring in their catch right off the boats and you can buy smoked fish directly from them for a fraction of restaurant prices. It is not really a tourist thing, more of a local routine, but it gives you a real sense of how the river defines the city.
For the Hezhe Village, the taxi drivers from the city center usually know the exact drop-off point, but some will try to charge you 50 RMB instead of 40. Just insist on the meter or agree on 40 before you get in. The village itself has a small workshop where they make traditional birch bark crafts, that is worth a look even if you are not buying anything.
honestly this is a solid itinerary, i've done almost the exact same route before. one thing i'd add is the songhua river embankment at sunset is way better than during the day, the light hits the water and the buildings just right. also, if you're at the dongfeng night market, skip the lamb skewers and go for the fried tofu skin rolls instead, there's a stall near the north entrance that's been there for years and it's unreal
for day 3, the river cruise is nice but the boats can be packed on weekends, try the 9am departure if u want a quieter ride. and imo the harbin restaurant is decent but the russian influence is pretty subtle, if u want something more authentic check out the small bakery on heping street near the dumpling place, they do these smoked fish pastries that are killer
one more thing, the cash tip is real, i got caught out at the hezhe village cause their card machine was down. grab some cash from the atm at wanda plaza before u head out
the museum's worth it but heads up, the exhibits are mostly in chinese so bring a translation app if u need it. for day 2, sifangtai is gorgeous but the hiking trails are a bit unmarked, i got turned around once so maybe download a map offline before u go. the hezhe village is small but charming, the fishing demonstrations are the highlight imo. also, laobian dumplings is solid but the line gets long around 6pm, try going a bit earlier or later
