if you're up for a bit of a hike, xinyi is about an hour north by bus and has some legit mountain scenery, the dongjiang river area is pretty chill for a walk. honestly the bus rides there can be bumpy but worth it for the views. there's also a small temple up on xianren mountain if you feel like climbing, nothing too crazy just a nice lookout
maoming city is only about 40 minutes by bus and way bigger than huazhou for shopping and food options, the train station area has a decent night market. if you want something quieter, dianbai district is a bit further but has a long coastline with some seafood spots right on the water, i'd skip the touristy beach areas and just find a random stall near the port
the old town area in wuchuan is about an hour by bus and has some really well-preserved ming dynasty architecture, most tourists skip it so you'll have the streets mostly to yourself. there's a small museum there too that covers the local salt trade history, costs like 10 yuan to get in. the ferry from dianbai to the smaller islands can be a fun half-day thing too, just check the schedule because they don't run as often as you'd think

Nice itinerary, covers the main bases without overpacking the days. I'd suggest swapping the museum visit for a walk through the residential lanes south of Dongmen Street instead. There's a small temple called Ciji'an tucked between the houses at No. 45, and the caretaker will usually let you in for a few CNY if he's around. It's not in any guidebook but the courtyard has a 300-year-old ginkgo tree that's stunning in autumn.
For the opera, the theater has a side entrance on Wenhua Lane where they sometimes sell last-minute standing tickets for 40 CNY. You won't see much of the stage but the acoustics are fine and you can slip out during intermission if it's not your thing. I've done that twice and ended up staying both times.
The farmers market is best visited before 11am, that's when the vendors from the surrounding villages bring in the morning harvest. After noon it's mostly the same stuff but picked over and pricier. The dried mushroom sellers near the north entrance are the ones to trust, they've been there for decades and will let you taste before you buy.
I've done this itinerary a few times and it holds up well. One thing I'd mention is that the botanical garden section of Binhe Park is actually pretty small, maybe ten minutes to walk through, so don't feel rushed there. The Ming-dynasty pavilion by the river is where locals gather to play cards in the afternoon, and they're usually happy to chat if you show interest.
For the Huazhou Museum, the free entry is a real bonus but the exhibits are mostly in Chinese with no English translations. The second floor has some nice celadon ceramics from the Song dynasty that are worth a look even without the labels.
On Qinglong Mountain, the waterfall at the halfway point is more of a trickle in dry months. If you've had rain recently it's impressive, otherwise don't expect much. The main loop trail is well marked and the view from the top is the real payoff, you can see the whole city spread out on a clear day.
honestly this is a really well thought out itinerary, i've done almost this exact route a couple times. one thing i'd flag is that the bus route 7 to the thousand buddha grottoes can be a bit unreliable in the afternoon, sometimes it just doesn't show up for like 20 minutes. if you're on a tight schedule, just grab a taxi from the central station for about 25 cny, it's faster and saves the hassle.
also, the night market on ximen street is great but the sugarcane juice is way better at the stall near the east gate, the one with the old lady who's been there for years. she squeezes it fresh and it's only 6 cny instead of 8. the grilled skewers are solid though, the lamb ones are the best imo
