🗺️ Day 1: City Center
Start your trip at the Hechi Museum (9:00 AM, free entry) to understand the region's Zhuang and Yao cultures. Then walk to the nearby Jinchengjiang Park for a relaxing stroll along the river. For lunch, head to the bustling Jiefang Road food stalls where you can try local rice noodles for around 10 CNY.

🏞️ Day 1 Afternoon: Ethnic Village
Take a 30-minute taxi (about 40 CNY) to the Yizhou Liu Sanjie Folk Village, open until 5:30 PM. Explore the traditional wooden houses and watch a folk song performance at 2:00 PM. Return to the city center by 6:00 PM for dinner at a local hotpot restaurant on Wenming Road.

🌄 Day 2: Baima Scenic Area
Catch the 8:00 AM bus from Hechi Bus Station to Baima Scenic Area (1.5 hours, 25 CNY). The park features karst peaks and a glass bridge (entry 80 CNY). Spend the morning hiking the main trail, then have a packed lunch at the summit viewpoint.

🚌 Day 2 Afternoon: Return & Relax
Take the 2:00 PM bus back to Hechi, arriving around 3:30 PM. Visit the Hechi Grand Theater for a 4:00 PM cultural show (tickets from 60 CNY). End the day with a foot massage at a spa on Jiangnan Road, where a 60-minute session costs 80 CNY.

🏯 Day 3: Ancient Towns
Take a 7:30 AM bus to Nandan County (1 hour, 20 CNY) to see the well-preserved Ming Dynasty town walls. Explore the old streets and visit the Nandan Museum (free, opens 9:00 AM). Return to Hechi by noon for lunch at a restaurant serving sour fish soup on Zhongshan Road.

🛍️ Day 3 Afternoon: Shopping & Depart
Spend your last afternoon at the Hechi Pedestrian Street, where you can buy local tea and bamboo crafts. The street is busiest from 3:00 PM to 6:00 PM. If time allows, stop by the Hechi Night Market for grilled skewers before catching your evening train or flight.

🚕 Getting Around Tips
Hechi's city center is walkable, but for longer trips use the local buses (2 CNY per ride) or taxis (starting at 7 CNY). Download the DiDi app for reliable rides. To reach outlying attractions, book a seat on the public minibuses that leave from the main bus station hourly.

💰 Budget & Timing
Expect to spend around 300-400 CNY per day including meals, transport, and entry fees. Most attractions open at 8:30 AM and close by 5:30 PM. Plan your hikes for the morning to avoid afternoon heat, and carry cash as smaller vendors may not accept cards.

I've done this same itinerary twice now, and one thing I'd add is that the Hechi Museum on day one is smaller than you might expect, maybe 90 minutes tops. If you finish early, there's a decent tea house called Qing Xin Lou on the south side of Jinchengjiang Park where you can sit by the water for 15 CNY a pot.

For the Yizhou Folk Village, the taxi from the city center can be tricky to flag down for the return trip. I'd ask your driver to wait or agree on a pickup time, otherwise you might be waiting 20 minutes by the roadside. The folk song performance is entertaining but it's all in Zhuang language with no translation, so just enjoy the music and dancing.

On day three in Nandan, the bus stop near the old town walls is not well marked. Tell the driver you want off at "Nandan Laocheng" and they'll know. The sour fish soup on Zhongshan Road is legit, but the restaurant closest to the pedestrian street called "Yu Xiang Ge" does a version with pickled bamboo shoots that's even better than the standard one.

This is a solid itinerary, especially for first-timers. I've done the Baima Scenic Area hike a few times, and I'd recommend bringing your own water and snacks from the convenience stores near the bus station in Hechi. The stuff at the summit is marked up quite a bit, and there's no real shade on the glass bridge once the sun gets high.

For the evening foot massage on Jiangnan Road, I'd add that the place called "Lao Zhang's" near the corner with Jianshe Road is usually less crowded than the bigger chain spots. The 80 CNY price is standard there too, and they don't push you to buy tea or anything after.

Good plan overall, covers the main spots without being too packed. If you're into food beyond the hotpot on Wenming Road, there's a small noodle shop called "Lao Wei Mian Guan" on the side street just off Jiefang Road, about a block south of the food stalls. They do a dry-mixed mian with pickled vegetables that's around 8 CNY and opens at 6:30 AM, perfect for a quick breakfast before heading to Baima.

On the Baima day, the 8 AM bus is reliable but fills up fast, especially on weekends. I'd suggest getting to the bus station by 7:30 to snag a seat, or you'll be standing for most of the 1.5 hour ride. The glass bridge is fine for a quick photo but the real payoff is the main hiking trail that loops around the back of the karst peaks, takes about two hours and has way better views without the crowds.

The pedestrian street shopping is decent for tea but if you want better quality bamboo crafts at lower prices, there's a small market in the alley behind the Grand Theater that runs on Saturday mornings only. It's mostly locals selling handmade stuff, not the tourist-grade items you'll find on the main street.

nightlife in hechi? where do locals go?

heading to hechi in about 3 months and wondering what the nightlife scene is like. any bars or areas worth checking out for a fun night out heading to hechi in about 3 months and wondering what the nightlife scene is like. any bars or areas worth checking out for a fun night out

The area around the bus station has a few second-floor bars that tourists usually miss. I like the one called 88 Pub on Jianshe Road, it's a small spot with decent craft beer and a pool table, not fancy but the crowd is friendly. The owner sometimes brings out his guitar around 11pm and people just sing along.

honestly the best nights out in hechi are just random street corner gatherings. there's a stretch near the south gate of the old town where people set up portable tables and play cards while drinking baijiu. nobody plans it, you just show up and someone will hand u a cup

Hechi's nightlife is pretty low-key compared to the big cities, but locals tend to hang around the Jinjiang Road area near the river. There are a few open-air beer gardens and small barbecue stalls where people sit for hours over cheap beer and grilled skewers. If you want something with a bit more atmosphere, try one of the KTV lounges on Wenfeng Road, they're popular with groups and the private rooms are a safe bet. Just don't expect anything wild, it's more about casual drinking and chatting.
