Best milk tea in Gejiu near Quán Trà Sữa Henry Tả?
The stalls by the old tin-mining museum side streets do a decent 8 yuan cup if you don't mind plastic stools.
good call on those stools tbh, i'd just add the stall by the wet market gate does a solid 7 yuan cup too
those stools are half teh charm honestly, bench seating down the lane behind is more comfy tho
Henry Tả's solid but Jinhu Lu has cheaper cups
Jianshe Lu side stalls, 5 yuan before noon
Second this, Chaoyang Lu side stalls undercut it
fair, but the cup sizes at Jinhu Lu run smaller so per ml it's closer than it looks. I'd still take the fruit teas on Jiefang Lu, 6 yuan and they dont skimp on teh ice.
Cup size math is the real issue, most people just compare the headline price. Try the carts on Wenhua Xiang near the bus station, 5 yuan and they fill to the rim. Ice melts fast in summer though, ask for less.
Jinhu Lu is fine but honestly the little shops around the Gejiu No.1 Middle School gate area beat it on price, think 6 to 7 yuan a cup. Afternoon gets crowded with students though, so go before 4pm or after 6.
yeah timing matters, but check the side lanes off Renmin Lu too, quieter and cups run about 5 yuan.
Xijie Bar in Gejiu 2026: is this a scam?
no receipt cash-only upstairs room is the tell, that's a hustle not a members club, plenty of bars pull this on tourists near the old town.
yeah the old town spots near Jinhu Lu pull this exact move, cash only and a "member" room that's just a back table. 200 is steep too, they usually open at 100 and fold fast. walking was the right call.
Same play runs round Renmin Lu after dark too
the upstairs rooms are mostly just karaoke boxes anyway
tbh the karaoke box thing is usually the cover, the real ask is overpriced drinks once ur inside
tho some got converted to private booths lately
Cash only at any bar is the giveaway.
fair point about the old town. the tell i'd add is they always pick the guy standing alone, never a group, and the price moves once ur already halfway up the stairs. 200 upfront is just the opener
Agreed on the receipt thing. What I'd add is that legit bars around there won't even take a walk-up for an upstairs room, the guy at the door has to know you or you're booked through someone. Anyone flagging strangers off the street is working a commission, not a club.
They work the afternoon tea crowd too, before it gets dark.
