no receipt cash-only upstairs room is the tell, that's a hustle not a members club, plenty of bars pull this on tourists near the old town.
yeah the old town spots near Jinhu Lu pull this exact move, cash only and a "member" room that's just a back table. 200 is steep too, they usually open at 100 and fold fast. walking was the right call.
Same play runs round Renmin Lu after dark too
the upstairs rooms are mostly just karaoke boxes anyway
tbh the karaoke box thing is usually the cover, the real ask is overpriced drinks once ur inside
