honestly the itinerary is pretty solid but you're missing one thing - the morning market near the old canal bridge on tianqu road. it's like 7am to 10am and u can get fresh jianbing for like 5 yuan plus the best soy milk i've ever had from this old lady who's been there since the 90s. way better than any tourist trap breakfast spot

for day 3 the ecological park is great but if you're there on a weekend theres a little tea house tucked behind the main pavilion, not marked on maps. they serve local jujube tea with these amazing date pastries for like 15 yuan, perfect after walking the wetlands. the owner is super chatty and will tell u stories about the canal history if you ask

one thing nobody mentions - the bus system is fine but the 101 gets packed during rush hour around 5pm. if you're heading back from the hot springs area try to leave before 4 or just grab a taxi, it's only like 20 yuan extra and way less crowded

the itinerary looks solid but i'd swap the order on day 2 tbh. suning hot springs are nice but they get packed by 11am with tour groups, so going earlier is smart. if you're not into crowds, the grand theater sometimes has afternoon puppet shows that are way more fun than opera for most people, check their wechat account for the schedule a day before

for day 1, the night market is good but don't bother with the braised chicken there, it's overpriced and not as good as the stuff from the original shop on xinhua road. get the grilled skewers from the old guy near the south entrance instead, he's been there for years and his lamb skewers are 2 yuan each

the ecological park on day 3 is underrated, most tourists skip it. bring some bread for the birds near the wetland boardwalk, they'll eat right out of your hand. the canal boat rental is worth it but negotiate the price, they'll try to charge 60 yuan if you look like a tourist

solid itinerary, only thing i'd add is the confucian temple on the west side of xinhua park, most people walk right past it. it's a small courtyard with these old stone tablets that have calligraphy from the ming dynasty, no entrance fee and usually empty. takes like 20 minutes to look around but the contrast with the busy park is nice

for day 2 if you're not into soaking for hours the hot springs has this cold plunge pool that's actually really invigorating, i always do a quick dip between the hot pools. wakes you up way more than coffee

day 3 the canal walk is nicer in the late afternoon when the light hits the water, around 4pm. the historical plaques are in chinese and english but the english translations are kind of rough, still gets the point across. if you want a good photo spot there's a small bridge about 100 meters south of the rental dock that gives you the best view of the old willow trees

solid guide, covers the essentials. one thing i'd add is the Dezhou Confucian Temple is actually free after 5pm on weekdays, most tourists don't know that and pay the 20 yuan entry during the day. the courtyard gets really quiet around sunset, nice spot to chill for a bit before heading to dinner

also if you're into hiking, the Changle Mountain trailhead is a 15 min bus ride from the east station on route 106. it's a bit rugged but the view from the top overlooks the whole city, totally worth the sweat. just bring water since there's no vendors up there

Nice guide, covers the important stuff. One thing I'd add is that the Dezhou Museum has a rotating exhibit on the lower level that changes every few months, usually featuring local archaeological finds from the surrounding counties. I went last October and they had pottery from the Warring States period that wasn't even mentioned in the main displays upstairs. It's worth asking the front desk if there's a special exhibition running when you visit.

Also, for getting around, the city's new bike lanes on Dongfeng Road are actually separated from traffic, which makes cycling way safer than in most Chinese cities. I rented a Hellobike and rode from the museum to the Jianhe River area in about 20 minutes, cost me 3 yuan total. Just make sure your app has enough balance before you start, the bike locks can be finicky about payment.

this guide is pretty thorough, props to whoever wrote it. one thing i'd add is that the Dezhou Paiji is great but the Lao Dezhou Paiji Restaurant gets packed around noon, so go at 11am or after 1pm to avoid the queue. also the braised chicken there is about 45 yuan now, not 40, prices went up a bit last year

if you're into cheap eats, the breakfast places on Tianshan Road near the food street do jianbing for like 6 yuan with egg and you can add youtiao for an extra 2 yuan. way better than the hotel breakfast buffets that charge 30 yuan for the same stuff
