This is a solid itinerary, I've been living in Deyang for a few years and I'd say it covers the essentials well. One thing I'd add is that if you're at the Confucian Temple in the morning, the little breakfast stall just outside the east gate does a fantastic jianbing for about 5 CNY, way better than anything you'll find in the night market. Also, for the hot springs on day 3, the public changing rooms can get crowded on weekends, so if you can swing a weekday visit you'll have a much more relaxing soak.
yeah this is a great baseline, i've used similar routes with visiting friends a few times. one thing to flag is that the arts and crafts museum on day 2 is genuinely small, like you can see everything in 30 minutes, so don't rush back from sanxingdui for it. i'd suggest grabbing lunch at the mom-and-pop dumpling place on Mianyuan Road just south of the museum instead, their chive and egg dumplings are 8 cny for a dozen and way better than the noodle shops near sanxingdui. and for the hot springs, if you're on a budget, the public bathhouse at No. 56 Wenquan Avenue is only 30 cny and has the same natural spring water, just fewer frills, locals use it all the time
honestly this is a really solid plan, i've done almost this exact route with friends who visited last year. one thing the guide doesn't mention is that the bus 22 to sanxingdui can get packed on weekends, so try to catch the 8:30 departure from the central station to avoid standing the whole way. also, if you're into photography, donghu mountain park is way better at sunset than midday, the light hits the lake just right around 5pm. the hot springs are nice but 128 cny feels a bit steep for what you get, i usually skip them and grab a beer at one of the riverside spots near jinghu instead, cheaper and more local vibe.

The guide covers the main areas well, but I'd add that the old town streets just east of Jinghu Square have some really good local guesthouses hidden in the hutongs. I stayed at one called Yuelai Inn on Qingnian Road for about 180 a night and it was much quieter than the main hotel strip while still being a five minute walk to the night market. The neighborhood feels more lived-in and you get better Sichuan breakfast stalls nearby.
I've stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in the southern suburbs a couple of times with my kid and it really is a solid pick for families. The free breakfast is decent and the play area is small but kept clean, plus you're right next to a big supermarket on Lushan South Road if you need snacks or diapers. The only catch is you'll want to take a taxi to the night market since the bus route from there can be a bit roundabout.
I'd say the Riverside Retreat area is the best if you're visiting in summer. I stayed at that Riverside Inn last July and the river walk at sunset is gorgeous, plus there's a little tea stall under the bridge that does great cold brews for like 5 yuan. Way cooler temperature wise than the city center too.
