if you want something central and walkable, the area around shuidong street is pretty good. lots of small restaurants and tea houses tucked in the old lanes, and you can get to the main sights like baishan temple without needing a bus

honestly i'd go with the old city area around Xiushan Road, thats where all the little noodle shops and snack stalls are clustered. you can walk to the Qiupu River from there in like 15 mins and the food scene is way better than near the train station. just be warned some of the street food places only open for dinner so plan accordingly

i liked staying south of the main downtown near cuiping road found a few solid family-run stalls selling local specialties like chizhou tofu pudding and the river fish options were way better than i expected
