Changping hidden gems for a short trip?

Any locals know of cool temples, food stalls, or hiking trails that are actually worth the time?

the yinshan pagoda forest is solid but if u want something even quieter check out the baiwangshan forest park on the edge of changping. it's mostly locals walking their dogs and the trail up to the peak gives u a killer view of the reservoir. entry is free if u go before 8am. for food there's a guy on gulou east street who sells youtiao from a cart around 5pm fresh out the oil and he wraps them in a thin pancake with sweet bean sauce. only a few locals know about it because he doesn't set up a sign. also the shisanling reservoir loop road is a nice bike ride if u rent a scooter not much traffic and the sunset hits the water just right

fwiw the yinshan pagoda forest is great but if you want something even more off the radar try the beizhai ruins trail near shisanling reservoir. it's an old military path that cuts through the hills with no signs or crowds just crumbling stone steps and wild peach trees. takes about 3 hours round trip and you'll end up at a forgotten watchtower with views over the whole valley.

for food there's a lady on dongguan street who sets up a cart around 11pm selling tanghulu and grilled tofu skewers. her sauce is homemade with cumin and sesame oil she's been there for like 15 years and the locals queue up after midnight. no english menu just point at the skewers.

if you have time the xiaotangshan hot springs area has a free public foot bath spot near the old temple ruins. it's a concrete pool fed by the natural spring locals soak their feet there in the morning and it's dead quiet by 7am. bring your own towel tho.

honestly skip the Ming Tombs main site unless ur into crowds. the real gem is the Yanqing section of the Great Wall near Changping it's way less restored and u can hike for hours without seeing anyone. for food there's a tiny stall on Fuxue Road near the old city wall that does jianbing with extra crispy cracker around 6am it's gone by 8. if u want a chill temple the Yinshan Pagoda Forest is quiet and the pagodas are scattered in the woods feels more like a hike than a tourist spot. entry is like 30 kuai and takes about 2 hours to wander thru.
