πŸ—ΊοΈ Day 1: Central Beining
Start at Beining Railway Station at 9:00 AM and take Metro Line 1 to People's Square (10 minutes, 3 yuan). Explore the Beining Museum (open 9:00-17:00, closed Mondays, 20 yuan) for two hours, then walk five minutes to Old Street for lunch at Dumpling House (30 yuan for a plate of 12). In the afternoon, visit the Ancient Temple (15 yuan) and climb the pagoda for city views. End the day with a stroll along the river promenade and dinner at Riverside Grill (80 yuan for a set meal).

πŸ›οΈ Day 2: Cultural District
Take Bus 5 from the city center to the Art District (20 minutes, 2 yuan), arriving by 9:30 AM. Spend the morning at the Beining Art Museum (free entry, open 9:00-18:00) and the adjacent Sculpture Park. Have lunch at the Art Cafe (45 yuan for a sandwich and drink), then join a 2:00 PM pottery workshop (120 yuan, book online). In the evening, catch a traditional opera performance at the Cultural Theater (tickets from 100 yuan, show starts at 7:30 PM).

🌳 Day 3: Nature and Relaxation
Head to Green Lake Park by Metro Line 3 (25 minutes, 4 yuan) and rent a bike for 20 yuan per hour to cycle around the lake. Visit the Botanical Garden (30 yuan) and have a picnic lunch from the nearby supermarket (50 yuan for supplies). In the afternoon, take a boat ride on the lake (60 yuan for 30 minutes) or relax at the Tea House (35 yuan for a pot of local tea). Return to the city center by 6:00 PM for a farewell dinner at Lakeview Restaurant (100 yuan for a three-course meal).

πŸš‡ Getting Around Beining
Beining's metro system is efficient and covers most attractions; a single ride costs 2-5 yuan, and a day pass is 15 yuan. Buses are also convenient, with fares at 2 yuan, but can be slow during rush hours (7:30-9:00 AM and 5:00-7:00 PM). Taxis start at 8 yuan for the first 3 kilometers, and ride-hailing apps like Didi are widely available. Walking is pleasant in the central areas, but be prepared for crowds on weekends.

🍜 Where to Eat
For breakfast, try the street stalls near People's Square, where you can get congee and fried dough sticks for 10 yuan. Lunch options include Dumpling House (30 yuan) and Noodle Bar (25 yuan for a bowl of beef noodles). Dinner at Riverside Grill (80 yuan) or Lakeview Restaurant (100 yuan) offers local specialties like braised pork and steamed fish. Vegetarian travelers can head to Green Leaf Vegetarian (60 yuan for a buffet) near the Art District.

🏨 Accommodation Tips
Budget travelers can find hostels near the railway station for 80-120 yuan per night, such as Beining Backpackers (88 yuan for a dorm bed). Mid-range hotels like City Inn (300 yuan per night) are located in the central district, within walking distance of major sights. For luxury, the Grand Beining Hotel (800 yuan per night) offers river views and a spa. Book early for the 2026 peak season (April-May and September-October) as prices rise by 30-50%.

πŸ’° Budget and Costs
A daily budget of 300-400 yuan covers meals, transport, and attractions if you stick to local eateries and use public transit. Museum entries are mostly under 30 yuan, and many parks are free. Set aside 100 yuan for souvenirs like handmade crafts at the Old Street market. Credit cards are accepted at hotels and upscale restaurants, but carry cash for street vendors and small shops.

πŸ“… Best Time to Visit
Spring (April to May) and autumn (September to October) offer mild weather and colorful scenery, ideal for outdoor activities. Summers (June to August) are hot and humid, with temperatures reaching 35Β°C, so plan indoor visits during midday. Winters (December to February) are cold but less crowded, and hotel prices drop by 20-30%. Avoid the first week of October due to the National Day holiday crowds.

good writeup. one thing i'd add is the riverside promenade on day 1 is way better at night than the guide suggests, like after 8pm when the bridges light up. i'd honestly swap the Riverside Grill dinner for grabbing skewers from the stalls along the promenade, cheaper and you eat with a view.

also the metro day pass at 15 yuan only makes sense if you're doing 4+ rides. for most of these days you're walking between spots anyway so just tap per ride.

fwiw i stayed at City Inn last spring and it was fine but the walls are thin, bring earplugs if you're a light sleeper

nice work putting this all in one place, the budget breakdown especially is more realistic than most guides i see

one thing id flag about day 2, the opera at the Cultural Theater is great but the cheap 100 yuan seats are basically behind a pillar and you cant see half the stage. if you care about actually watching it spend the extra 60 or so for mid-tier. also the show runs long, closer to 2.5 hours with the intermission, so dont plan anything after

and for the pottery workshop, i'd add that the morning slot is way less crowded than the 2pm one, you get more hands-on time with the instructor

the tea house at Green Lake is worth more than the guide makes it sound, thats honestly the highlight of day 3 for me. skip the boat, grab a pot of the local green tea and just sit for an hour, its like 35 yuan and nobody rushes you

one thing nobody mentions: the pottery workshop in the Art District fills up days ahead in peak season so book it the moment your dates are set, not when you arrive. i showed up hoping for a walk in and got turned away twice

🏯 Explore the Old Town
Start your visit in the historic heart of Beining, where the cobblestone streets of the Old Town are lined with Ming and Qing dynasty architecture. The area is compact and best explored on foot, with the main gate opening at 8:30 AM and closing at 5:30 PM. Don't miss the well-preserved family temples and the small museum inside the former magistrate's office, which offers a concise overview of the city's past.

🚣 Cruise the Beining River
A boat tour along the Beining River provides a different perspective of the city, especially at dusk when the bridges and old warehouses are illuminated. Tours depart from the Riverside Pier every hour from 10:00 AM to 9:00 PM, and tickets cost 80 yuan for adults and 40 yuan for children. The 50-minute loop passes under the iconic Stone Arch Bridge and offers plenty of photo opportunities.

🍜 Taste Local Flavors
Beining is known for its hearty noodle soups and savory pancakes, and the best place to try them is at the Night Market on Fuxing Road, which runs from 6:00 PM to midnight. A bowl of beef noodles costs around 15 yuan, while the scallion pancakes are 5 yuan each. For a sit-down meal, head to Old Street Restaurant at 45 Renmin Road, where the signature dish is braised pork with chestnuts, priced at 68 yuan.

🎨 Discover Art and Culture
The Beining Art District, housed in a converted textile factory on Chuangyi Lane, hosts contemporary exhibitions and artist studios open to the public from Tuesday to Sunday, 10:00 AM to 6:00 PM. Admission is free, though special exhibitions may charge 30 yuan. Check the schedule for weekend workshops in pottery and traditional painting, which are popular with visitors and locals alike.

🌳 Relax in Green Spaces
For a peaceful break, visit People's Park in the city center, which features a large lake, a teahouse, and a small amusement park for children. The park is open daily from 6:00 AM to 10:00 PM, and entry is free. Rent a paddle boat for 40 yuan per hour or join the morning tai chi sessions at 7:00 AM near the East Gate.

πŸ›οΈ Shop for Souvenirs
The best souvenirs in Beining are handmade crafts and local specialties, available at the Old Town Market on Xinhua Street. Look for embroidered silk items, bamboo weaving, and jars of Beining chili paste, which range from 20 to 200 yuan. The market is open daily from 9:00 AM to 8:00 PM, and bargaining is expected, so start at about half the asking price.

🚌 Getting Around
Beining has an efficient public bus system with fares at 2 yuan per ride, and you can use a transportation card or mobile payment. Taxis start at 8 yuan for the first 3 kilometers, and ride-hailing apps are widely available. The city is also bike-friendly, with shared bikes scattered around major attractions for about 1.5 yuan per 30 minutes.

πŸŽ‰ Join Seasonal Festivals
If you visit in spring, don't miss the Cherry Blossom Festival at Beining University, usually held in late March or early April. In autumn, the Lantern Festival on the river takes place in mid-September, with lantern releases and traditional performances. Check local listings for exact dates, as they vary slightly each year.

been coming to beining for work a few years now & this covers it well

one thing nobody mentions is the bus situation on rainy days, the 2 yuan flat fare is great but routes 7 and 12 get absolutely slammed when it pours so budget an extra 20 min or just grab a shared bike if ur not going far

also if u like the art district go on a saturday, the pottery workshops fill up but the studios upstairs are way more relaxed than the weekend crowd at the old town

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

solid writeup, covers most of the bases. one thing i'd add is the teahouse in People's Park, nobody ever mentions it but it's like 12 yuan for a pot of local green tea and you can sit there for hours watching the old guys play xiangqi. way better than the riverside cafes for a mid-afternoon break. also the art district is dead on mondays, i know the guide says tuesday to sunday but ppl still show up monday and get confused, so just double check before u go.

Nice work pulling all this together, it's more organized than most of what I've seen floating around.

One angle that's missing is timing your visit around the university calendar. Beining University students descend on the Old Town and the Fuxing Road night market hard during orientation week in early September, and again after exams wrap in mid January, so those two windows are noticeably louder and pricier. Late September once term is properly underway is my favorite stretch, the weather holds and the crowds thin out.

Also worth knowing the Old Town museum inside the magistrate's office closes for lunch from noon to 1:30, which the sign at the gate doesn't mention. I watched a German couple rattle the door for ten minutes last spring.
