Vintage Avenue in Beijing 2026: still worth the crowds?

weekday mornings are fine, honestly. get there by 9:30 when the vendors are still unrolling and you'll have the place to yourself till about 11. i prefer the smaller spots off Baochao Hutong these days, there's a cluster near the courtyard end where prices are lower and the owners actually talk to u. Panjiayuan is still teh move for furniture and old cameras if you're willing to dig.

the cluster off baochao is solid but go past the second courtyard gate, the first few stalls are marked up for students. for actual deals i hit the sunday morning lot behind Longfusi, mostly locals clearing out apartments, cash only

Nine-thirty works but vendors at Baochao's courtyard end don't open till ten, so you're just standing around.

Fair point, so kill time at the breakfast stall on the corner for a jianbing first, they open at seven.

Agree on Panjiayuan for cameras, though the 4am ghost market on Saturdays is where the real stuff surfaces before the stalls open. For clothes, try the secondhand shops tucked behind Jiaodaokou, less picked over and no tour groups.

Good call on the 9:30 timing. One thing I'd add is the stalls along the west side of the market tend to restock Thursday afternoons, so that's when the good stuff quietly reappears. You'll dodge the weekend crush and get first pick.

I'd add that those courtyard stalls mostly shut by early afternoon, so it's a morning-only thing. If you want furniture without the Panjiayuan trek, the back lanes off Dongsi have a couple of dealers who price fair and deliver.

Courtyard owners restock Friday nights, mostly.

Vendors there also clear out during the Lunar New Year lull, so check the lunar calendar before hauling yourself over.

Skip Baochao's alley stalls entirely and try the third-floor tailors' row at Guomao, where old stock surfaces cheap.

yeah the 8am thing is real, early risers end up at the little place on the corner instead. tbh Brew Lab's espresso is fine if u just need a quick hit, no need to trek
