Best gyms near Local House Beijing 2026

Local House is a bit off the grid for big chains, so your best bet is the small outfit on the side street past the fruit stand, day passes are flat rate around 60 yuan. Weekends get busy after 10, so go early or you'll queue for the squat rack.

Ask about off-peak weekday mornings, closer to 45.

Image annika local ·

Worth noting the 45 rate only applies if you're in before 8, they bump it after that.

the one with the blue awning? cash only last time i went

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down
Image philip local ·

blue awning one takes wechat pay now

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

yeah that place is solid. fwiw they open at 6 and the early crowd is mostly regulars, so 6 to 8 is way calmer than after 10. bring cash just in case, their card reader is flaky.

showers are grim, bring flip flops

Second this, though 60 only covers the main floor, not the studio room

Image elisa local ·

Fair point, and the studio room is where the free weights actually are. It's another 30 or so on top, though they'll knock it down if you're doing a week pass. Worth asking at the desk rather than paying daily.

honestly the squat rack situation is worse on sat mornings than weekdays, i'd just book ahead if u can

Beijing modern art museums 2026: what's still open in Dashanzi?

I used to spend weekends around 798 and it feels like half the galleries have rotated out since 2023. Which modern art museums in Beijing are actually worth a visit in 2026, and is 798 still the place to go or have things shifted toward Caochangdi and the newer spaces out east?

UCCA still, but M WOODS 798 closed.

red brick art museum in hegezhuang still worth the trip

Honestly the more interesting shift is toward the small project spaces, not the big names. Around Caochangdi, Tabula Rasa and the little spaces off the main drag are showing sharper work than most 798 venues right now, and they change shows every few weeks. 798 still works for a full afternoon, but go on a weekday since weekends there are packed with tour groups by 11am.

the weekday tip is real, i'd add that the galleries around the 798 west gate tend to open later, like 11 or noon, so plan around that

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah and some of those west gate spots close mondays too so check hours before u trek out

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Some open 10, some 1pm. Check each gallery's WeChat.

A798 opens 10:30 sharp, worth the earlier start

Image editha local ·

West gate spots like A798 and the neighboring studios often don't unlock until noon, so hit 798's main drag first and loop back west after lunch.

Agreed, though the project spaces along the side lanes near 草场地 change shows so often that a place can vanish between visits, so check ahead.

Caochangdi's side lanes also empty out on Mondays, so Tuesday to Thursday is when you'll actually catch the people running those spaces.
