The bridge itself is kinda unremarkable, you know? But I swear, as I crossed, I felt this... weird energy? Like a slight hum, almost imperceptible. It wasn't the traffic noise, or the wind. It was subtle, but definitely there. Anyone else experienced something similar near Dayangfang Bridge? Is it just me, or is there some kind of... urban legend surrounding this spot?

honestly i think you might be onto something. i've lived in beijing for like 8 years and that whole stretch around dayangfang has this weird acoustic thing going on. there's a specific spot near the north side railing where the hum gets louder, right where the liangmahe canal bends. i asked a friend who's an engineer and he said it's prob the bridge's expansion joints vibrating at a specific frequency when the wind hits them just right. but i kinda like the mystery better.

also that dumpling place you mentioned is fine but if you want something truly mindblowing walk 5 mins east to the xiao gui jie food alley. there's a guy there who makes chuan'r with this insane cumin blend, 2 kuai per skewer. way more interesting than the tourist spots near drum tower.

huh, that's interesting. i've never felt anything weird on dayangfang bridge itself but there's a small alley off the south side near the liangmahe river that has this sort of dead quiet zone even during rush hour. maybe it's the way the bridge vibrates from the subway line running underneath? line 10 goes right under there i think. also that dumpling place near drum tower is solid but have you tried the xianbing at the little spot on gulou dajie just west of the bridge? way better and half the price

best photo spots in beijing?

heading to beijing in about 5 months and wondering where i should go for good photos. any favorite spots for early morning or sunset shots? heading to beijing in about 5 months and wondering where i should go for good photos. any favorite spots for early morning or sunset shots?

olympic forest park is slept on fr. the linden trees along the main axis go gold in late october and the bird's nest reflection in the lake at sunrise is nuts, barely anyone there on weekdays. also check out 798 art district on a weekday morning, the old factory pipes and graffiti make great contrast shots. tbh bring a wider lens than u think you need, everything in beijing is bigger than it looks in photos

everyone goes for the big landmarks but honestly the best shots i got were from the overpasses on the 3rd ring road at dusk, just traffic light trails with CCTV tower lit up in the background. also guomao at blue hour from the silk street footbridge, the CBD towers all glassy & orange, tripod helps cuz u need a slow shutter. one thing nobody mentions, air quality totally changes your photos so check the AQI app the night before, a clear day after rain is worth waiting for

For sunrise the Temple of Heaven east gate area is underrated, locals doing tai chi around 5:30am with the morning fog, way better than fighting crowds at Tiananmen. For sunset honestly just walk along the canal near Shichahai, the reflections off the water with the Drum Tower behind are hard to beat. Bring a tripod if you can, the good light only lasts like 20 mins this time of year.
