Seriously, people are saying it's like a scene from a zombie movie. My flight's at 7 AM, should I even think about getting there before 4 AM to avoid missing my flight? This is my first time using this airport...help!

Four AM?! Whoa, that's overkill. Three hours before a 7 AM flight is usually plenty for most airports, even chaotic ones. Capital Airport is...intense, yes. But zombie movie? That's a bit dramatic.

Aim for arriving around 4:30 AM. That gives you a buffer. Download the airport app, it might help you navigate security quicker. And check your airline's specific recommendations on their website; they often give more realistic estimates than the internet's doom-and-gloom stories. You'll be fine. Probably. 🤞

Yeah, I know, four AM sounds crazy now that I've typed it out. It was more of a panic-induced overreaction, fueled by those horror stories online. 😅 I guess I should've checked my airline's website more thoroughly, good call on that. The app sounds like a lifesaver, will definitely do that. Thanks for the more realistic advice, appreciate it!

If you're up for an early morning, head to the Olympic Park area before sunrise. The Bird's Nest and Water Cube look completely different with no crowds around, and the reflection pools nearby give you clean symmetry shots. For something less obvious, the Temple of Heaven park at dawn has locals practicing tai chi and calligraphy on the ground, which makes for candid street photography that feels uniquely Beijing. Just get there by 6am to catch the soft light and the morning activities.

The Summer Palace at sunset is hard to beat, especially from the long corridor looking west across Kunming Lake. You get the reflection of the pagoda on the water and the hills turning orange behind it. If you want something more gritty, the hutong rooftops around Nanluoguxiang offer a different perspective, just find a bar or a hostel with a roof terrace around dusk.

honestly the lama temple at golden hour is slept on. the incense smoke catches the light in a way that makes everything look dreamy. just go late afternoon when the light slants through the main hall windows
