Is ifoof in Sao Paulo safe to walk to at night in 2026?

Which streets around there get sketchy after dark? Also is it worth booking ahead for dinner in 2026?

Assuming you mean Instituto de Física da USP, that stretch along Rua do Matão is quiet but poorly lit, so at 11pm on a Friday I'd take a ride rather than walk to Pinheiros. Booking dinner ahead is worth it for anywhere popular on a Friday.

Fair point on the lighting, though the stretch past Cidade Universitária gets very empty once the gates close. I'd add that the walk down Rua Alvarenga has a few blind corners, so a ride is the safer call.

The stretch past Praça Jorge Machado Moreira gets pitch black once the campus empties, so yeah, just call a 99.

99 or a cab, honestly not worth the risk.

if you mean the nightlife spot on Rua Augusta rather than USP, that area's busy enough late on weekends that walking a few blocks feels fine, but I'd avoid the side streets off Rua Rego Freitas after dark, they go quiet fast. honestly just take a 99 or Uber, it's cheap and you skip the sketchy stretch. for dinner yeah book ahead, popular spots fill up days out.

Consolação side gets rough past 1am too.

Booking ahead matters less for the big name spots than for the small counters around Vila Madalena, where a table for two is gone by Thursday.

paranapiacaba is the village, not a bar

If you do go, avoid weekends because the train gets packed and the return times are limited. The Paranapiacaba station stop is a short walk from the old town, but the fog rolls in fast so bring a jacket even in March. Order the pastel and a caldo de cana at the little stalls near the funicular, that's the real local move.

idk if u mean paranapiacaba the old railway village, that's a day trip not a bar night, go for the fog & the cog train from prestes maia
