Cancelling in the app and paying cash kills your only leverage. Ifood records it as a customer cancellation, so you lose the refund path and the courier keeps whatever you hand over. The pattern I've heard about near Paulista is the guy claiming the restaurant is slow, then pocketing cash and marking the order undelivered anyway. Decline politely, say you'll wait, and keep everything inside the app. If he pushes, report the chat to ifood support.

Agree on the leverage part. One more thing: ifood charges the courier a cancellation fee on their side when you cancel, so he's offloading that onto u too. The cash he wants is basically double dipping.
