Is R$85 for a meal at ifood in Sao Paulo normal in 2026?

Is that a typical price for a sit-down meal there in 2026, or am I looking at tourist pricing? Also curious whether delivery through the app usually comes out cheaper than eating in.

85 is on teh higher side, maybe 60-70 is more typical.

yeah 60-70 sounds right for a normal prato do dia. 85 usually means a fancier spot or a touristy area like Jardins. delivery on ifood often adds fees so it can end up pricier than eating in.

Those ifood fees are the sneaky part, the delivery fee plus a service cut often adds 15 to 20 reais on top of the menu price.

Agreed, and the app markup varies a lot by neighborhood too. I've seen the same prato listed cheaper in Pinheiros than in Itaim, so worth comparing a couple of spots before ordering.

That range tracks with what I've seen browsing menus, though the R$85 could be a prato with a side and drink bundled in. Worth checking if service is already included before you compare.

Is that area fine to walk around that time, or should I stick to certain streets? Also is the brunch worth it or are there better spots nearby?

Sunday 10am near Sé is quiet but keep to the Rua Direita and Praça do Patriarca side and skip empty cross streets; brunch itself is mediocre so I'd walk to Rua São Bento instead.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Yeah that side is calmer, but I'd add the Pátio do Colégio stretch, it's short and feels fine in daylight. Fwiw I'd grab coffee around Praça da Sé and eat later, the sit-down brunch places there are pretty forgettable.

The Sé metro exits spit you onto the wrong side, use the Anhangabaú one.

Fair warning most sit-down spots between Sé and São Bento don't open till 11 on Sundays so plan the walk first
