The menu price is what you pay, but watch the couvert and the 10% servico that often gets added. A full plate at a place like that runs around R$60 to R$90 in 2026. Budget a bit extra for drinks.

also check if the couvert is per person or per table, some places charge it even if u skip the bread

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Yep, and ask if they waive it when you decline, some do, some just add the couvert automatically without asking.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

servico often gets added even when u ask for it off

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

servico usually already included in the posted price there

Locals just order the prato do dia at lunch, way cheaper

Look up the prato executivo at lunch, that's where the real savings sit, not some hidden local rate.

How reliable is the internet for video calls, and are there coworking spots or cafes where people actually settle in for a full workday? Also curious whether anyone overlaps with US or European hours, and how long remote workers tend to stay.
arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

cafes along rua augusta are hit or miss for long stays, but coworkings like wework on paulista and a few smaller spots in vila madalena are solid. for US hours most ppl shift late afternoon to evening, europe is easier in the morning. stays tend to run 1 to 3 months.

wework on paulista is fine but book the quiet floor early, it fills up by 10 & the open area gets loud for calls
