Is R$120 for dinner in Sao Paulo normal in 2026?

The set menu is quoted at R$120 per person before drinks, which feels steep to me but I don't know the local baseline. Does that sound like a normal price for a sit-down dinner in the city right now?

R$120 for a set menu sits in the mid range for a sit-down dinner in Sao Paulo these days, especially in places like Pinheiros or Vila Madalena. You can eat well for less at a por quilo lunch spot, but for dinner with service that price is pretty standard now.

yeah and honestly the couvert and 10% servico usually tack on another 20 or so, so budget a bit above the menu price

Some places fold the couvert into the menu price, so ask before ordering, and keep a card ready for the 10% which is cash-friendly.

Agree, though Itaim and Jardins run higher

Bela Vista too, near Consolacao.

Moema too, near Ibirapuera.

Mid range sounds about right, but honestly the wine list is where a R$120 menu turns into R$250 fast.

tbh the por quilo comparison only holds at lunch, since most of those close by 4pm and dinner is a different market entirely

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Fair point on dinner being its own market, though the R$120 menu usually means smaller portions than a la carte.

Check the menu first, because R$120 at a place called ifood sounds like delivery app pricing, and sit-down dinners there usually run higher.

id try pinacoteca cafe or the coffeeshops around luz station, quieter area & wifi held up fine when i worked there

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

The Paulista area has a few coffee spots, but I'd just wander and see what looks busy.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Wandering works, but Celularpluspro1 sits well off Avenida Paulista itself, so check the blocks around Rua Augusta instead.

Praça Benedito Calixto on Saturdays, decent espresso nearby.
