Which visa or residency permit should I be looking at, and what does the paperwork actually require at the consulate? Also curious what commonly goes wrong with the process, since I'd rather not get stuck at the airport.

the vitem xi is what covers remote work for a foreign employer, applied for at the consulate in portugal before u fly. apostilled & translated docs trip ppl up most, plus police certs expiring (90 days usually). don't show up on a tourist stamp & sort it later, that gets messy

police cert from portugal needs the consulate legalization too not just apostille

Cartório translation plus consulate legalization can add two weeks, so start that before booking anything.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

makes sense, and the consulate legalization has to happen before the translation or the cartório will reject the whole set

Vitem XI consulate appointments in Lisbon and Porto book out months ahead, so grab a slot the day you have your apostilled docs in hand.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

also the consulate only takes paperwork by appointment at lisbon or porto so no walk ins

ours took closer to three weeks in lisbon cos the cartório wanted a sworn translator for every page

Bar Parnapiacaba worth the trip from São Paulo?

fmd_goodBar Parnapiacaba · #food #paranapiacaba
visiting in march 2026 and staying near centro, is bar parnapiacaba in paranapiacaba village worth the train ride out or is it more of a locals only spot? also do they do food or just drinks visiting in march 2026 and staying near centro, is bar parnapiacaba in paranapiacaba village worth the train ride out or is it more of a locals only spot? also do they do food or just drinks
arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

the train ride itself is the draw, paranapiacaba is a tiny english-built village and the bar does petiscos not full meals so eat before u go

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

Second this, but book the train back before dark, last one's early.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Worth adding that the train only runs on weekends and holidays, so a March weekday trip won't work at all.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah the village bit is the whole point tbh. just dont count on the bar for a real meal, petiscos only & it gets packed on weekends

Fair warning tho, march is rainy season up there so the trail bits around the village get muddy, bring decent shoes.
