Do people mostly meet through apps, or is it more about bars and cafes like Vintage Coffee & Emporium in Pinheiros? Curious what surprised foreigners most about the norms.

Apps, but botecos in Vila Madalena still win.

yeah the boteco thing is real but honestly it's the padaria at like 7am that gets slept on. same people every day, you nod, then one day you're sharing a pão de queijo. slower burn than an app but it works.

the padaria thing holds but it's more the one near your apartment than any famous spot. i noticed Brazilians also meet through friends of friends at churrascos way more than apps suggest. whats your read on the gym crowd?

Sao Paulo work visa paperwork 2026, what am I missing?

What documents did u need and what usually goes wrong at the consulate?
arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

i went through this last year, not in SP but the consulate part is the same. the temporary work visa (visto temporario) is tied to the employer & needs the mte autorizacao before u even book, that's where most people stall. get the apostilled docs started now, cartorio queues are brutal.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Yeah the MTE autorizacao is teh bottleneck, and the residence permit with a local contract still routes through the same queue at consulate.
