padoca on rua harmonia, before 9

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah Harmonia's the move, just note most spots there shut by 6 so mornings are your window

good call on the before 9 thing, it gets packed with the breakfast crowd after that. fwiw the little places tucked off the side streets near Praça Benedito Calixto are worth the extra block, less hectic. cash is handy too, some of them are weird about cards early.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

the side street spots are solid but a couple only take pix or meal vouchers, so ask before u sit. pastel de nata place on fradique coutinho is my pick if u want something with the coffee

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

honestly the pastel de nata spot on fradique coutinho is my pick if u want something with the coffee... wait that was already said. anyway before 9 is right, after that it gets packed with the breakfast crowd.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agreed on the timing, though I'd say closer to 8:30 if you want a seat. There's also a tiny spot a block off Teodoro Sampaio that does a solid pingado and doesn't get the rush.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

8:30 sounds right, by 9 the counter's three deep. that tiny spot, is it the one on rua fradique coutinho or further up? asking cause the one i tried had great pingado but only two stools.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

which block off Teodoro Sampaio? I only know the one by the Aspicuelta corner and it's usually slammed by 8:30. if it's a different one I'd rather try yours.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

before 9 is right but go earlier on saturdays, the feira crowd hits hard around 8. if u want to sit down order a pão na chapa & pingado at the counter like everyone else, table service is slower

Sao Paulo cafe prices for tourists 2026

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

the two menu thing is mostly a myth in regular spots. a plain espresso at a padaria counter runs 6 to 9 reais, pão de queijo 5 to 8. sit down at a nicer coffee shop in pinheiros & it jumps to 12 to 15 for espresso. pay at the caixa, not the table, & you'll get the normal price

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Not in SP but yeah, tourist menus exist on Paulista, not padarias.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Comunidade da Vila Madalena, weekday mornings.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Check if your spot is a padaria or a café. Padarias are cheaper, but cafés charge more for the ambience. Ask for the cardápio, don't trust QR codes.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Ask for the cardápio at the balcão, not the mesa
