Is Bar Parnapiacaba worth the trip from central Sao Paulo?

fmd_goodBar Parnapiacaba · #saopaulo #parnapiacaba
Heading to Sao Paulo for a few days in 2026 and keep seeing Bar Parnapiacaba pop up. Is it worth the trek out there or should I stick to spots closer to where im staying? Also curious what the vibe is… Heading to Sao Paulo for a few days in 2026 and keep seeing Bar Parnapiacaba pop up. Getting out to Barra Funda takes a while but the coxinha alone justifies the trip imo.

Fair warning teh place is spelled Pariquiçaba not Parnapiacaba, so double check before u map it.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

google maps will just autocorrect u anyway so the spelling barely matters. just type "bar pariquiçaba" and let it do its thing

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

good catch, that spelling trips everyone up. if u search the wrong one you'll end up somewhere random, so def worth fixing before u head out.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

the coxinha is legit but honestly the bolinho de bacalhau is what i go back for. barra funda isnt that far either, maybe 15 min from centro on the linha vermelha.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

agreed on the bolinho, the cod inside is properly flaky not pasty. one thing tho, linha vermelha drops u at Barra Funda station and it's still a solid 10 min walk, so factor that in. go before 7 if u want the good tables.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

bolinho de bacalhau over the coxinha any day, but 15 min is optimistic once u count the walk from the metro.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

I'd say it's more of a mission from centro than "a while" implies, but the coxinha holds up. Weeknight crowds are thinner so you'll actually get a table without the wait.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

Weeknights, way quieter. Worth it.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

yeah quieter for sure but botequim-style spots still fill up after 8, so go early if u want a seat

Opening a bank account in Sao Paulo 2026 as a foreigner?

Do I need a CPF before any bank will talk to me, and which ones are actually workable for foreigners in 2026? Also curious whether Wise or a similar card is enough day to day instead of fighting the paperwork.
arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

CPF first, no bank moves without it, but Wise covers rent and bills fine short term while you sort the paperwork.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

agreed on the order, but add a comprovante de residencia to the list, banks want a utility bill in your name and a hotel letter often gets refused at the counter. Inter or Nubank tend to be less painful once the cpf lands

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Inter charges a fee for the boleto, so factor that in.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

that utility bill thing is teh real bottleneck honestly. Nubank might dodge it sometimes but dont count on it. wise card covered most of my stuff anyway.
