Best brunch near Catedral da Sé in Sao Paulo 2026?

fmd_goodBrunch da Catedral da Sé · #crowd #cathedral #brunch
I'm visiting Sao Paulo in March 2026 and staying near the Catedral da Sé. Is the brunch there actually worth it, and what time should I show up on a Sunday to avoid the worst of the crowd? sunday around Sé gets packed after 10am, so aim for 8:30 and hit a padaria near Praça da Sé for pão na chapa instead of a sit-down brunch.

Padaria Real on Rua Direita, opens 6:30.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Good call on the early start, though I'd grab a pão de queijo and coffee to go since seating fills fast.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Their misto quente is the move, and the counter upstairs usually has seats when downstairs is rammed.

6:30 seems early for brunch but sure

arrow_drop_up -1 arrow_drop_down

8:30 works, but March is rainy season so check the sky before committing to an outdoor counter.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

yeah the afternoon storms roll in fast, like 20 min of dumping then sun again. i'd keep it indoors and just watch the sky from a window seat. centro gets slick fast too, those old sidewalks.

Those granite slabs around the square turn into a skating rink within minutes, so proper shoes matter more than an umbrella. If the sky does open up, duck into the covered walkways along Rua São Bento rather than sprinting for the metro stairs.

Café Girondino, opens 7 on weekdays

Fair warning, most spots around the square don't open until 9, so 8:30 might leave you circling.

Vintage Coffee & Emporium worth the trip in 2026?

fmd_goodVintage Coffee & Emporium · #coffee
visiting Sao Paulo next month & Vintage Coffee & Emporium keeps popping up on my feed. is it actually worth a detour or just a pretty spot for photos? also curious what the coffee prices run there now visiting Sao Paulo next month & Vintage Coffee & Emporium keeps popping up on my feed. is it actually worth a detour or just a pretty spot for photos? also curious what the coffee prices run there now

If you're into the vintage side, the actual antiques and old tins are the draw, not the espresso. Go on a weekday afternoon when it's quieter and skip the weekend crowds. Prices felt steep for what you get.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

honestly the coffee there is fine but not the reason to go. i went on a tuesday morning and it was mostly people filming reels. if u want actual good coffee in SP try the places around Vila Madalena instead, cheaper too. expect to pay around R$18-25 for a flat white at these trendy spots now. Vintage is more of a vibe stop than a coffee destination imo

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Fair take, though I'd say the pastries are the real reason to bother. Just don't go expecting a quiet cup.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

The pastries are good but I'd put the pão de queijo at Padaria Santa Efigênia above them, and it's a third of the price.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah the pastries carry it, the cinnamon roll especially. just budget for it, a coffee and pastry there runs close to R$50 now which adds up fast. go before 10am if you actually want a seat.
