Brunch near Catedral da Sé in Sao Paulo 2026?

fmd_goodBrunch da Catedral da Sé · #crowd #cathedral #brunch
I'm in Sao Paulo for a few days in March 2026 and staying near the Catedral da Sé. Is the brunch there worth planning a morning around, and what time should I show up to avoid the worst of the crowd? id skip planning a whole morning around it tbh, the area around Sé gets pretty hectic by mid morning. i went to a spot a few blocks toward the centro historico & it was fine, nothing amazing. maybe show up before 10 if u go

before 10 is right, Pátio Antigo around 9:30

Agree, but go for the pão de queijo

9:30 works but weekends are a different beast

Fair, though I'd push the cutoff earlier on weekdays, the office crowd hits Sé around 8:30 and the good bakeries empty out. Aim for 8 sharp if you want a seat without hovering.

8:30 is optimistic. 7:45 for the padarias near Rua 15 de Novembro

yeah the mid morning chaos is real, its mostly the street vendors setting up. tbh if u go before 10 the cathedral square itself is still calm enough to enjoy. just watch ur phone near the crowds

honestly the spots right on the square are the weak ones, walk 10 min down Rua Direita toward Praça do Patriarca instead. less hectic and better coffee. just dont bother on a monday, half of them close

Tem spots around Praça da Sé itself are mostly tourist traps anyway, you're better off wandering toward Liberdade for something with actual character. Just keep in mind most places don't open until 9 or later on Sundays.

The real crowd surge is around 11 when the feira da Sé packs up, so aim well clear of that window.

Novo Sabor in Sao Paulo, worth a detour in 2026?

Staying near Avenida Paulista for a week in March and Novo Sabor keeps coming up. Is it worth the trip across town, and do I need to book ahead for dinner?
