There isn't really a brunch scene right at the cathedral itself, it's more of a pass-through area. Walk ten minutes to the Mercado Municipal for pastel de bacalhau and coffee, or head toward Rua Augusta for proper sit-down spots. Go before 9am on weekends or you'll queue.

Padaria Santa Efigênia does a solid morning plate.

I went last year and the pintado na brasa was the standout, though the menu shifts seasonally so check what's running. It's in Pinheiros, easy off the Fradique Coutinho station, so not really out of the way.

Booked three weeks out last time and still got a 21h30 slot only, so plan the reservation early. The moqueca and the pirarucu dishes held up better than the meat, honestly. Worth the detour if you're already spending an evening central.

Agreed, though I'd ask them to go easy on the farofa on top or it dries the whole thing out. Their tutu comes with a soft poached egg if you ask, which pulls it together. Worth the small extra.
