Staying near CSa for a few nights in March and want somewhere to grab a beer that isn't a tourist trap. Any bars within walking distance worth checking out? Bar do Juarez, Rua Augusta, happy hour from 6.

Agreed, though the 6pm start fills up fast on Thursdays, so I'd get there closer to 5:30 if you want a table outside. The chopp is cheap and cold, and it stays lively without turning into a scene.

the caipirinha there's better than teh chopp tbh

Worth noting they close Sundays, so plan your March nights around that.

Boteco Seu Justino on Rua Teodoro Sampaio is solid for a low key beer, decent petiscos and not packed with gringos. I'd also wander toward Vila Madalena if you don't mind a 15 minute walk.

Pinheiros around Rua dos Pinheiros has good chopp bars too, and it's flatter walking than heading up toward the hills.

Rua Fradique Coutinho, quieter end near Ouro Fino

Second this, Empório Alto dos Pinheiros for the chopp list.

I went last year and the pintado na brasa was the standout, though the menu shifts seasonally so check what's running. It's in Pinheiros, easy off the Fradique Coutinho station, so not really out of the way.

Booked three weeks out last time and still got a 21h30 slot only, so plan the reservation early. The moqueca and the pirarucu dishes held up better than the meat, honestly. Worth the detour if you're already spending an evening central.

the tutu de feijao side, don't skip it

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

Agreed, though I'd ask them to go easy on the farofa on top or it dries the whole thing out. Their tutu comes with a soft poached egg if you ask, which pulls it together. Worth the small extra.

no clue tbh, just book ahead if u go
