Sunday morning the Sé area is pretty dead, most places around the cathedral stay shut. I'd walk twenty minutes to Santa Cecília or up to República for somewhere actually open, the surroundings right by the praça are mostly tourist traps anyway.

padaria Santa Efigênia does sunday mornings on rua da mooca

i think theyre closed now, sign was gone in january

the praça de federação kiosks open around 8

Café Girondino on rua 25 de março, opens 8 sunday

Honestly the walk up to República passes A Casa do Pão de Queijo on Ipiranga, open early sundays and cheap.

Is R$45 for a beer in Sao Paulo normal in 2026?

That seems steep even by my standards, is that actually the going rate or was he exaggerating? Also wondering if there's a big gap between draft and bottle prices.

honestly R$45 is on the high end but not crazy for craft in Pinheiros these days. draft is usually cheaper than bottle, sometimes by 10 or 15 reais. look for happy hour spots, teh prices drop a lot before 8

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah and craft spots on Rua dos Pinheiros tack on a 10% servico, so budget for that on top of the menu price

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

45 sounds high for a normal bar beer tbh. I think that's more like a fancy craft spot in Pinheiros, not teh standard. Chopp (draft) is usually cheaper than bottle, sometimes by a good chunk. If u see a place charging 45, check if its a touristy spot. Normal bars are prob more like 15 to 25 for a draft.
