Sunday morning the Sé area is pretty dead, most places around the cathedral stay shut. I'd walk twenty minutes to Santa Cecília or up to República for somewhere actually open, the surroundings right by the praça are mostly tourist traps anyway.

Honestly the walk up to República passes A Casa do Pão de Queijo on Ipiranga, open early sundays and cheap.

I'm moving to Sao Paulo next year and I'm curious how dating works there, do people mostly meet through apps or is it still common to strike up conversations at bars and restaurants? I've heard places… I'm moving to Sao Paulo next year and I'm curious how dating works there, do people mostly meet through apps or is it still common to strike up conversations at bars and restaurants? I've heard places like Novo Sabor are good for casual dinners, but I'm not sure if that's a date spot or more of a friends thing. What surprised you most about the dating norms compared to where you're from?

Novo Sabor's more of a friends-and-family spot honestly IMO, apps dominate here but the boteco happy hour around Vila Madalena is still where a lot of people actually meet.
