Best brunch near Catedral da Sé in Sao Paulo 2026?

fmd_goodBrunch da Catedral da Sé · #breakfast #cathedral #brunch
I'm visiting Sao Paulo in March 2026 and staying near the Catedral da Sé. Is the brunch there worth it, and are there other good breakfast spots within walking distance? I'd rather not wander too far… I'm visiting Sao Paulo in March 2026 and staying near the Catedral da Sé. the center empties out on weekends so check hours before u go. padaria santa efigenia on rua da cantareira does a solid pao na chapa & coffee early, maybe 10 min walk. i'd skip hotel brunch & eat there tbh

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

santa efigenia opens 6am, get there before 8

arrow_drop_up 18 arrow_drop_down

yeah the 6am thing is real, theyre baking by then and the misto quente is still hot. just watch out, sit-down area fills fast with workers grabbing coffee before their shift so grab a counter spot.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

noted, get the misto quente while it lasts

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

true but go early for the pastel de nata too, they run out fast by mid morning

arrow_drop_up 6 arrow_drop_down

weekends are dead but weekday mornings around se have solid padarias too, worth a wander before the crowds

Closed Sundays though, check before you go

Agree on skipping hotel brunch, but bring cash since their card machine flakes out half the time.

Any honest recs for a cold beer and a decent plate at Bar e Lanchonete Praça da Sé, or should I walk a few blocks for something better? I'd rather hear from people who've actually sat down there.

The spots right on the praça are mostly tourist-facing and pricey for what you get. Walk ten minutes down Rua Direita toward the Mercado Municipal and grab a pastel de bacalhau with a chopp at Hocca Bar instead. Better food, colder beer, worth the stroll.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agree on skipping the praça spots, but Hocca's a zoo at lunch. Fwiw the lanchonetes on Rua do Carmo do a solid bauru and cold Original for half the price. Go before noon.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

worth it but cut through the side streets instead of following the crowd, it dumps u right at the mercado's fish stalls & u skip the crush. pastel de bacalhau there is fine but i'd get the bolinho de bacalhau at the counter inside, less greasy. go early, by 11 the chopp lines get silly

arrow_drop_up 18 arrow_drop_down

honestly the bolinho at Bar do Mané, tucked in the little lanes off the mercado, beats most of it. order the pastel de carne & a chopp there if u want somewhere less packed. cash only btw
