Visiting Sao Paulo next month and Novo Sabor keeps coming up. What should I actually order there and is it worth going out of my way for in 2026? Visiting Sao Paulo next month and Novo Sabor keeps coming up. What should I actually order there and is it worth going out of my way for in 2026?

Is there a good way to meet people through recurring things like a weekly cooking class, a running club that ends at a bar, or a neighborhood spot where you just show up often enough? I keep hearing about places like ifoof but I'm more interested in how people build a social circle there over months.

Praça Benedito Calixto saturday mornings, same coffee stall

Same stall, but go before 9, it gets mobbed.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

yeah by 10 it's shoulder to shoulder, though the pastel guy on the far corner stays quiet till noon

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

before 8:30 if u want the good pão de queijo, they sell out

The coffee queue moves faster if you order at the counter inside instead of waiting at the window.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

counter trick works at padarias too, just ask for the balcão instead of waiting to be seated

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

true, and at busy ones just stand at the balcão and eat standing, staff clock you faster than at a table. took me a couple weeks of morning pingado runs before they knew my order

Feira da Vila Madalena, sunday mornings instead.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

sundays at Vila Madalena work better for me too, less crowded than saturday. stick around the pastel and caldo de cana stalls on the Rua Harmonia side and after a month the vendors start recognizing you. thats honestly how half my circle there began.

arrow_drop_up 23 arrow_drop_down

go early and hit the pastel stands on the far side, that's where the actual regulars cluster

I prefer the pastel stall by the church, less wait.
