dating apps are huge but instagram is basically the real app there, ppl check ur profile before meeting. the friend of friends thing is real too, churrasco & aniversario parties. i would not overthink the foreigner part, paulistanos are pretty open

Yeah the Instagram thing is real, I'd add that people also use it to soft launch, so expect some curated stories before you ever meet.

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

soft launch is real but honestly it cuts both ways, some ppl keep their profile almost empty on purpose so u cant read too much into it. just dont stalk too deep before the first date or it gets weird

arrow_drop_up 0 arrow_drop_down

The friend of friends part is what actually gets you past the first few dates, since a lot of people keep apps at arm's length and prefer meeting through a shared churrasco or a friend's aniversario. Being a foreigner helps more than it hurts, curiosity carries you pretty far early on.

WhatsApp groups fill in the rest, honestly.

or a grupo do condomínio near Paulista

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

Agree on the apps thing, but I'd say people also lean on mutual friends before a profile even comes up. What surprised me most is how direct paulistanos are once you're actually out.

Churrasco is where it actually clicks, but the aniversario in a cramped apt on Rua Augusta is the real filter.

arrow_drop_up 1 arrow_drop_down

Apps do most of the first contact, but a lot of couples I know met at work or in a shared daily routine, like the same padaria or gym near Paulista. People are open, though the first few dates stay pretty casual before anyone commits.

Vintage Coffee & Emporium scam or normal? 2026

Is that a real thing here or was I getting worked? Never seen it anywhere else I've traveled.

Minimum card charge is normal, service fee usually isn't.

arrow_drop_up 8 arrow_drop_down

The card thing is common but sitting fees are rare in SP, unless it's couvert artistico which some places charge for live music.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah the card thing's standard but that service fee sounds made up, maybe he meant couvert artistico like the other person said
