if u want actual specialty coffee not just padaria stuff head toward vila buarque or santa cecilia, short uber from there. coffee lab in vila madalena is worth the trip if u have a work morning free. wifi is solid & the espresso is legit

Coffee Lab gets packed after 10, go at 8.

arrow_drop_up 4 arrow_drop_down

Eight is right, and weekdays the rush only really hits around 10:30, so a 9am start still gets you a table.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

9am sounds right, before the laptops take over

Vila Buarque is the closer bet, and Isaura Café on Rua Maranhão has decent wifi and space to sit.

arrow_drop_up 3 arrow_drop_down

good call on that one, just note the maranhão spot shuts sundays so plan around it

arrow_drop_up 16 arrow_drop_down

the pão de queijo there is worth the sit

Celularpluspro1 looks like a phone shop area, so your best bet is walking a few blocks toward Av. Paulista for the padarias that double as cafes. I'd pick a neighborhood padaria over a chain, the pão na chapa and espresso cost less and nobody rushes you out.

arrow_drop_up 2 arrow_drop_down

yeah the padaria plan works but check the hours, most close by 6pm and some shut sundays entirely

Is that a real thing here or was I getting worked? Never seen it anywhere else I've traveled.

Minimum card charge is normal, service fee usually isn't.

arrow_drop_up 8 arrow_drop_down

The card thing is common but sitting fees are rare in SP, unless it's couvert artistico which some places charge for live music.

arrow_drop_up 5 arrow_drop_down

yeah the card thing's standard but that service fee sounds made up, maybe he meant couvert artistico like the other person said
